I had heard some internet talk the Continental might not survive past this gen?

No one is buying it, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was killed. Face it, people aren't going to spend $80-90k for tarted up Fords, unless it's an SUV. The Navigator is selling like hot cakes, and this probably will, as well. Ford hasn't done enough to bring the brand back from obscurity to be able to charge what zee Germans do. Not yet, and certainly not for a sedan.

Well to be fair no one is really buying any big sedan in big numbers.

I am sure they will put it on the carbon fiber version of the chassis... :lol:

I can understand cost cutting, but if you are going to produce a true sports car I don't think it can be on that kind of shared platform.

FYI, the Continental isn't a luxed up Ford. The MKZ is, of a Fusion, but not the Continental.

FYI, the Continental isn't a luxed up Ford. The MKZ is, of a Fusion, but not the Continental.

Oh, I know that, but brand perception is what it is. People don't see Lincoln as having any bespoke chassis or vehicles, and for the past 30+ years, they haven't (unless you count the fact that the Panther chassis was like 700 years old when Lincoln finally retired the Town Car).

My wife is a luxury car buyer, and loved the original Aviator, but wouldn't even look twice at Lincoln nowadays. Cadillac fixed its perception problems when it came out with the CTS, but has fallen right back into the badge engineering game. Lincoln is going to take awhile to fight out of this hole, if it's ever able.
