Sounds like sour grapes to me.
Perhaps, but only because I would've liked to get an R. But for the reasons mentioned. Looks and collectable value. For MSRP (even 10 over) a great car. For the $30-40+ over I was finding, certainly not worth it (to me), especially when I could get a 2017 GT350 specced the way I wanted for MSRP... and it's basically the same car. So, I'm happily enjoying my GT350, as will you! Every time I look at my car and press that start button, all sour grapes disappear and turn into sweetness. :ford:

I definitely would have loved to have gotten an R, but i couldn't find one at a price i could live with and i just couldn't afford the ADM. That being said i don't think others who bought it made a poor decision even if they paid the ADM. Kudos to them for getting such a rare car. Is the regular 350 a lesser car than the R? Sure, but i don't think anyone here is rubbing that in our faces. The regular 350 suits me just fine, and for every person who makes you feel bad that you didn't get an R, there are probably 10 that think its awesome you even have a 350 period.

Breathtaking. You certainly educated me and everyone else on this thread. Well done!
I've learned in life that you don't have to answer to ignorance.

Let's hope your "20th" post on this site is more edifying.

I just ordered my Lightning Blue with white stripes GT350 on Tuesday.. can't wait. Picking out the color was sooo difficult as there are so many great choices. But I wanted a true Shelby experience, and I associate the blue/white and white/blue combo's with Shelby the most, so that's why I went that way. I passed on the White/Blue mainly because they seem to be the highest produced color combo out there (not that there is anything wrong with that).

I was told by my dealer I would have to wait 6-10 weeks.

I understand, i thought the same but my first choice was going with the highest number produced. Dont be fooled lighting blue for 2017 isnt far behind white. I believe its the 3rd highest right now behind black, white.

Stopped by my local Ford Dealer and finally got to see a GT350 in Lightning Blue, and all I have to say is - WOW. Amazing color in person on this car! I am very happy that I ordered it with the White Stripes! The black stripes look great also!

This one is currently available at Brandon Ford for $10K over sticker. I didn't talk #'s with them, so not sure if they are willing to deal or not... but from what I've seen locally, I doubt it.

I brought my DSLR camera with me so I could get some quality pics and contribute to this thread... so here ya go! LB is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Apparently it's you who's not familiar with your own car. But that's your concern. But, since you "called me out" and decided to NOT enlighten me or this forum on the secrets your R has over the non R's, let me do so. Read carefully, you might learn something about your own car.

Aero: R has bigger rear wing and bigger front splitter (obvious).
Mech Grip: R has wider CF wheels running cup tires, 1mm larger rear sway bar (too compensate for wider wheels), and higher poundage front springs (to compensate for slightly higher aero from front splitter).
Motor: The same.
Trans: The same.
Software: The same.
Power: The same (spending on dyne - perhaps a couple hp more on the R because of unsprung weight from lighter wheels).

Obviously there can be other weight saving options depending on your spec, but basically, if you spec a 2017 R and non R the same, they will perform exactly the same, except for the mentioned slight differences which will give it better aero & mech grip at the extremes of the performance envelope (which only a VERY capable driver will be able to notice).
Have you ever driven an R model on the track or the street? I though not otherwise your response would be much different.

Based on your uneducated response you obviously have no idea about the difference between driving a GT350 and a GT350R.

Pretty much a year ago I had the opportunity to drive a number of laps at Sebring with a 2016 GT350 Track Pack and a couple of 2016 GT350R models back to back and can tell you that the feel from a steering, braking, handling and acceleration standpoint is obviously very much different.

Going forward maybe reach out to a few other Shelby owners who either own both models or have driven both of them and ask them for their opinion. Based on my personal experience and feedback from other owners we are all of the same perception.

Since that time I have been very fortunate to purchase and drive a number of 2015 Track Pack/Tech Pack cars along with purchasing a couple of R models from the 2016 and 2017 MY. BTW, both of my R models are base 920A models and come A/C and radio delete amongst other differences.

All models of the Shelby GT350's are outstanding vehicles but for you to preach to us multi car Shelby owners how similar the GT350/GT350R only shows your immense lack of experience and knowledge regarding these two outstanding automobiles.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Well said. I owned a track pack, and currently own a 350R and the difference is quite substantial on the street alone. Haven't had the R on the track but did drive the TP cars at the Track Attack. I cannot wait to get my R on the road course next year.

these shots are fabulous! love the DSLR camera it focuses and blurs wonderfully, whats it called?
I took these with my Canon 5D MKIII with a 24-70mm f/2.8L II lens. I've been into photography for 20+ years, and this setup can give you sticker shock if your're not into the hobby. ;)
