I understand the OP's concern about a new engine. I had a 1996 Mercury Mystic, at 38,000 miles the engine burned up. Ford would only cover half the cost of a new engine and it never worked right. Two main problems were, they could not get a water pump to survive. (I think the dealer's service was totally incompetent, they put seven water pumps in over about 18 months). The big problem was that the engine would just stop and wouldn't restart. It was towed so many times my insurance company cancelled my towing insurance.

I would think twice about a new engine.

See that is what I am afraid of, the car would not preform as before. But I am hopping that the repair would be smooth and everything would go back to normal.
Also I might just trade it in for a new '16 because they are already coming out.

But ford isn't required to give you a new car under warranty. Your motor is covered if it cant be fixed they replace it. If my 5.0 drops a valve tomorrow and ruins the piston and bearings I don't get a new car.

Your car will be fine.

If you keep pushing the issue the dealer should pay a car payment as a courtesy, it has been done for a few other forum members.

Don't go screaming lemon law, that is a sure fire way to have everyone at the dealer ignore you.

It is very unfortunate that you are going through this and it has taken so long.

They are putting a new engine in and honoring the warranty.

Don't listen to that other guy who had a new engine put in his 98 Mystique, he can't even spell the name of his car right.

Your engine new engine will run fine.

Not the dealers fault, why would they make a car payment? It's Ford's issue...if anyone gives you anything it will be the MFR.

You need to contact the Ford Customer Service Rep, on the Forum. Her name is Deysha and advise her of your problem. You can send her a PM. She is great and will help you.

As for the new engine, I am an old guy (70), and I can tell you the new engine will be fine. The dealer will take the time to do it right as they don't need Ford asking why it was screwed up. I have had transmissions replaced, an entire Audi engine, except for the short block and a VW VR6 engine removed, repaired and replaced. I never had a problem with them. You can ask Ford to comp your payments while the car is being worked on and to provide a rental. Stay calm and pleasant while talking to them. They will appreciate you not going off the deep end at them :)

Engines are way better than they were 20 years ago. Service is way better than it was 20 years ago. Could it happen, sure, but it's highly unlikely. I'd take the new engine and stop having them diagnose the problem!!!

I've had a new engine put in a car before under warranty. This is the proper solution to your problem and you won't be disappointed. Don't take the advice of litigious people. They make life more expensive for everyone.

Your not going to get car lemon law for engine failure maybe if it failed 3 times. It will be ok with new engine get car back drive it like normal. Nothing is perfect and never will be. We had new truck with engine knock with only 300 miles on. Knock was caused by piston and connecting rod bushings came out. First this has ever happen truck has new engine running great has 200,000 mile on it now. No factory never got back to us on exactly why it failed

Thanks for the support for the new engine. The engine replacement should be done within a weeks time and I'll be able to enjoy my Mustang again. Being that its my first time ever dealing with a problem like this especially on a new vehicle put me on the edge at first but like most of you said, it'll be okay.
They told me they couldn't reimburse my payment due to ford renting a vehicle for me but they are looking to get me an extended warranty of some sort.

Good for you. It never hurts to ask. I am going to bet Ford will come through with an ESP to extend warranty coverage, but remember, you still have the normal drivetrain warranty of 5 years/60,000miles with Road Side Assistance during that time frame. If you don't experience any problems during the normal 3/36000 bumper to bumper, you are most likely safe. An ESP is just piece of mind if you plan to keep it more then 5/60. Enjoy!
