Is anyone getting this. I have had the car for under two months. I first noticed this when I purchased the car. I thought it was just dirty windshield that is reflecting on the dash or just dirty dash. I had a closer look today and it's actually the leather fading away. Like a layer of the leather had been rubbed away.

On the pic, that faded leather extend all the way up the edge and it's starting to fad inward, as my finger is pointing out.

Let me know what you think. Is anyone getting this? Is his normal for new leather? Can I contact Ford about this?

Update: Heard from Amber (who works closely with Jeff on this forum) today. She says that the leather dash issue as well as the scratches I see on the metal portion of the dash (I really see it only when it curves into the speedometer) is a sales/ delivery issue. Honestly, I don't know what that means. If someone can help clarify, I would be grateful.

But here is my thought. These issues could theoretically happen during manufacturing. One person said that this is a leather imperfection. My thought is that maybe the workers at the plant over cleaned it, trying to remove a stain perhaps? And the scratches, well I can only see that happening during the installation. No way can anyone get in between that portion to scratch it. So, couldn't all of his still be a Ford-related issue?

Anyway. I'm just lost. And I'm concern. If Ford puts the blame on the dealership, and as one member have said, these things are expensive to replace, the dealership is not going to want to replace. They'll likely give me some BS excuse like that's how leather is or that you have to expect scratches from metal. It's just the nature of metal. Trust me, one local dealership has already given me these excuses.

Anyway. All of this could mean nothing when I take the car in next Wednesday for them to take pictures and send it to Ford. I'm just worried that Ford will deny this for reasons that Amber has stated.

Any thoughts or suggestions, guys? I know I said a lot on the update. Thanks ahead of time.

You don't have the premium trim. That just appears to be the factory grain in the pleather and how it was made. At least to me it does.

Its the material used. You could show it to the dealer for a swap . It can be done under warranty if the dealer confirms that its an issue . Wear areas on the material. Material dash imperfection.

If it's wear, is it covered under warranty? I was under the impression that it's not. But this is a new vehicle, so maybe that's different?

If it's material imperfection, then it's covered.

I'll contact the dealer tomorrow and see what they say. But I would love your input as well.

Thanks!

That should be covered . Wear is not covered, but you got the car that way from the dealer. Warranty replacement , should be in order. From what i can see that is material imperfection and should not have been installed on your car. The dealer should swap it out for you no charge.

Seems like it's rubbed off to me. Do you have the same trim? Can you check your car to confirm? Thanks
I have the premier trim with accent stitching and mine doesn't look like that.

Thanks. I would think that the difference with your trip is the stitching. But our "leather" should be the same, right? If it is and yours doesn't look that way, then it's material imperfection.

You can look for my thread in this section. I had my dash replaced for bubbling. The dealer cannot swap out just the pad, they need to replace the whole dash skeleton. So think about it carefully if its worth it.

Just read your post. Damn! Now I don't know. I also have a few scratches next to the right gauge (the speedometer), so maybe I can get the entire metal dash changed too. But man. The possibility of other issues emerging during the repair is very high. I don't know if I want to take that risk.

(Never owned a Ford before this Mustang. But I'm slowly thinking owning one is a mistake. I love the Mustang. It drives amazing. So don't get me wrong. But the number of issues in 2 months of ownership is just unacceptably amazing. My issues: sunglass holder not locking; rattle coming from passenger seats; driver side panel foam rubbing against the door; front breaks screaming; stained leather seats; puncture later seat at the rear (although, this is the dealership's fault); and now the latests two issues. I haven't looked at the misaligned body panels. Just rather live in ignorance at this point. But damn, when will the issues end? Sorry. Just venting a little. Back to the issue(s) at hand.)

The only real issue was the dash. Everything else about the car is awesome. I expected a new rattle or two from the install, but didn't expect other damage due to the tech's carelessness and not taking other protective precautions.

I am pretty dang sure most mustangs have a molded plastic/rubber/latex/vinyl dash.(not leather). I have the premium and I have real stitching, but have never seen a ford document stating any dash part is leather. I suspect mine is a synthetic fake leather. If you look close on the standard dash, the black stitching is fake, part of the mold.

I suspect what happened is some foreign matter like a lubricant or release agent filled in some of the detail of the master mold and yours came out short on detail. Same thing happens stamping coins or othe items under pressure.

I think you will have to live with it or claim factory defect and suffer the dash replacement !
