Leaking air from tyre valve - What would be the fix?

Hey all

So I was out cleaning the glass on the GT when I heard a faint hissing. I thought "please don't let it be a puncture" as these Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres are practically brand new! Now... I've just had the alloys refurbished and when I was checking for a puncture I noticed that actually the sound was coming from the very base of the valve (where it pokes through the alloy wheel). If I wiggle the valve stem, the hissing sound intensifies.

So 4 questions as I dont know much about tyre valves and TPMS.

1. Is it likely the alloy wheel refurb company has damaged it putting it all back together? I can't think of any other reason for it to have happened.
2. What is the fix? Are the valves and TPMS units a one piece item? If so I think it is safe to say they won't have any spares as they are not a garage. They just dip and powder coat alloys.
3. Do they need some sort of coding by Ford or is it just a rip and replace job?
4. Does anyone have a part code please?

I wonder if I should get all 4 replaced at my local Ford dealership and then charge the alloy wheel company for the one that is broken?

You should be able to go to any local tire shop and have them change out the valve. The valves themselves should be inexpensive.

Had same story thanks to idiots at local tire shop. They have damaged one of the rims and valve stem on another wheel. It actually did not loose pressure until highway speeds or putting side pressure on it, so it took some time to find it. Long story short, the sensor itself can be unscrewed and just valve stem replaced. It's very cheap thing. You don't need a new sensor unless it's also damaged.

Valve stem all replaced today. And for some reason they also re-balanced the wheel. Cost me £20 all in total. But, it is fixed. Wasn't best pleased having to then go out in the rain to wash the wheel as it was so dirty from their greasy hands.

That's normal. The tire must come off the rim to install the valve. Unless you manage to put it back in exactly the same position it was before (which is next to impossible), it must be re-balanced.

Got off cheap. I had new tires installed (no TPMS) one went flat immediately I didn't notice I the 5 mph 5 min drive and ruined it LOL there goes $300 + install.

Never went back.

Oh man! Now that sucks. I do worry about the alloys all the time, especially these "custom pack 3" wheels as they are forged and not standard cast alloys. I think direct from Ford they cost around £750 each!
