Leads requested: 2017 R Build - moderate ADM

Got kid #2 and a Volvo XC90 coming soon. I need a flat plane 8.2k RPM NA fix in a bad way.

I'm looking for a 2017 350R allocation at a "reasonable" ADM ($10k?). Not hunting the unicorn (aka the zero-ADM R) but I'm not keen to do business with my nearest dealer, who is marking up their Rs by $35-$40k. Located in SF Bay Area but will take a deal anywhere in the US. If the right deal comes up Chicago or westwards, will drive the car home. Otherwise will ship. Can wire a deposit immediately (within a couple of hours) to a dealer. I do want to be able to pick the color of the car if at all possible.

If you have any leads on a dealer with a "fair" ADM policy and 2017 Rs to sell, please PM me. I will be working hard to get an R - so please PM me even if you just have words of wisdom, insights, etc. Everything that helps me get closer to the right deal is welcome!

I've been calling dealers across the country. Have found a couple with allocations that are willing to take deposits. So far the lowest ADM I've been offered on a 2017 is $35k. The market-standard ask seems to be $40k.

Curious if anyone is aware of a dealer with a 2017 allocation willing to go below that $35k level. I think I could get to $20k but I'm not sure about $35k.

There is the ask, and there is what people will actually pay. Anecdotal, yes, but I hear that a lot of Rs get sold for under $10K ADM.

One dealer I talked to said that they set their $40K ADM after Galpin was offering them $40k to buy them out of their allocations and then reselling cars for $60-$70k over sticker.

Another dealer I spoke to (not Galpin) said that they have sold two Rs, both at $60-$70k over, and they said they had bought those from other dealers for significant ADMs (before marking that ADM up again...).

Either the dealers I'm talking to are slinging a lot of BS (entirely possible) or there's a pretty healthy dealer market in allocations that is setting an ADM floor. Or there's a lot of regional variation. Or some combination of the above. Probably some combination of the above.

Don't trust dealers unless you're best friends...and even then....

I had a dealer send me an email months ago telling me that they sold their 2016s (non-r) for $5k over. The other day, in the SAME email thread, he had the nerve to tell me that since they sold their 2016s for $10k over, that's what they felt was fair for their 2017 allocations. Really? The guy was lying about what the previous ones sold for, period. This is probably the most common lie.

Unless you're standing in front of them, you will likely get fed a line. I recommend going to your local dealer who is receiving an R and tell them you want to write a deal for whatever amount you're comfortable with and see how that goes.

I would love to find one under 10K. I have found couple at 10K but not lower so far. I am up to 359 dealerships so far (majority were not allocated Rs to be fair). More dealers are getting word on their 17 allocations so I been getting a lot communication lately. I am sure I find a deal.

I would say, so far, hardly any less than 10k. A few dozen around 10k. Most 20 to 40 over . A couple dozen 60k, a few 100 to 130k.
This is just what I've seen so far. If there becomes a dealer that isn't expecting an allocation, I could see them just wanting sell it at msrp or minimal mark up. My dealer says he'll give it to me at msrp but they need to get one first! Lol

Yeah, after a day of calling all over the country (I did get *some* actual work done...) it seems like $20k might be the lower realistic bound of ADMs. Not that any dealer asked an ADM that low, but based on 'how things go in the real world' and the starting asks, I'm getting the picture that a $10k ADM is a getting-lucky ADM. And even $20k might be getting lucky. Or at least has to be defined as within the range of 'fair price' in this market.

I will keep on it, but that's the early picture that's emerging. Lowest ADM ask today on an available 2017 allocation was $35k, the highest was $70k. I did hear of one allocation at a $10k ADM, but it was a car already committed to another buyer (I am 2nd in line on that one, apparently).
