2017 R at $25K ADM?

7:32 was never verified... I honestly dont see how it can be true given that the car is slower than the old 997.2 GT3 in every data point (0-60, 1/4 mile, 60-0, 70-0) and that car lapped it at 07:40. And GT350 is 8 full seconds faster? No way.

And its 1 second faster than the new 991 GT3RS which has 500hp, PDK, and it weighs 500 lbs less than GT350.....? Yeah right

Acceleration numbers have little to do with lapping the nurburgring... and nowhere was it claimed that the gt350r is faster than the 991 gt3rs. It was stated that the R was on pace with the standard 991 gt3 not the rs

Gt3 = 7:25

They both slaughtered the R. However the R hangs with them on the shorter tracks.

Well the 350 will be a lot more fun to drive because on the GS we opted for the 8spd DCT since it's easier on the women to drive LOL The GT350 is all me!!!

I went with an M7. I have raced at VIR and I can tell you that an R was beating every Corvette out there. The only noteworthy item was it was slower around VIR than a C7 Z06....for 2 laps. Then the dreaded Heat Soak set in and regular C7's had better times than the Z06 once it got too hot. GM did Corvette Fans no favor by putting a Supercharged engine in a car designed for track use.

I spent 18 months with my C7 Z51. It was simply too slow for me. I put an ECS S/C with no restricter plate. Meth, Headers, tune to get it to 696 RWHP @ 9.0 lbs of boost. It was a bit more fun but I still felt something was missing. The only area I preferred my modified C7 to my GT350 was in a straight line when flooring it. The 8000k RPM of the VooDoo makes up for the deficiency in straight line speed. Almost ;)

The only way a non Z06 C7 beats a GT350R in acceleration is if the R driver can't shift. The C7 will most likely have the slush box since only about 25% of C7's are manuals anymore. GM claims the A8 is "Just as fast a PDK". Having driven a DCT/PDK, there is no comparison to a standard automatic. Not even close.

DCT or not it's still fast enough for me and that sweet POP when you hit the paddle is addicting but probably not as addicting as downshifting a Voodoo... I can't find out soon enough! I know I've beaten guys on bikes with our '15 Z51 that was traded on this one and the car handles nice at 155 This one only has 300 miles on it so it's not time to wind her up like that yet. Have to at least get that 500 mile oil change in first and get that break in oil out of there...

Sure it was never verified, but your arguments are weak as hell and come off as trolling. You list straight line acceleration and straight line braking as your points of merit, for why one car is faster over a 12 mile road course.... Pretty certain the Nurburging has a few corners.... The most important metric by far for Ring times is lateral grip, where the R is right up there with the GT3. The GT3 laps 7 seconds faster because it is significantly lighter, has better weight distribution and has a PDK.

Your argument is invalid.

Agree that the claims regarding the A8 being as fast as a PDK are not entirely true, yes they have as fast upshifting in certain circumstances, but you still won't get the immediacy of paddle response on downshifting, nor the intuitiveness of the PDK.

Just a note as well, you can't compare "I raced at VIR and X person was lapping Y person in said car". Put the same driver, a professional, in each car and you will see what laps faster. On track days for owners, the biggest differentiation will be the experience level of the drivers . You can put a novice in a Z06 and have him lapped by a pro in a 5.0L for example.

On track days for owners, the biggest differentiation will be the experience level of the drivers . You can put a novice in a Z06 and have him lapped by a pro in a 5.0L for example.

+1 at DE you need to factor in the drover ;) I think the GT350 is an awesome car but the C7GS with equal drivers will take down a GT350 on equal tires. The GT350 weight and less tire will be its downfall vs the C7GS.

I love all cars, my point in bringing up the c7 grand sport was to explain that once you add in 20k+ ad, the 350r loses some of its appeal, as in its no longer a bargain. That's roughly 95k depending on options, and when you get in that price range, there are simply better options. I love my 350, and I got a chance to drive a 350r last weekend, both are amazing cars, especially on track. If you have to have a 350r, and you have the money than its worth it to you, but you asked the forum if they think it's worth it, and I say no, at that price at least. At 95k the c7 gs is the pick of the.litter

Very true but all the drivers that day were in the Intermediate group so all the drivers are about equal. Do I agree you throw 10 random people out the skills can be vastly different. :cheers:

I'll stand by my original statement. If you have the funds, and you want the car, the ADM is academic. I have seen R's get sold for more than 25k ADM. This may be your 1 chance to get an R.

The M2 has beaten the m4 around tracks it's not all about power. You have handling braking etc

On topic the R is awesome but at 95 to 100k there are lots of better cars
