Laser Protection Systems

Hi All,

Anyone looking to add Laser Protection to their car when arrived? I was looking at the blackvue dashcams and came across this which i didn't think we had in W.A but very keen to add if it can save me a fine or 2. Your guidance / experiences appreciated.

I currently use Blinder laser defence and a V1 on my commodore. Will do the same once I get the mustang.

Lost count how many times it has saved my ass.

Exactly, there is no point these days. If you want to give it some stick take it to the track or drag strip.

Agree on not speeding...I was getting confused with a posting on the BlackVue dash cam.

That said I remember fondly having a Passport Radar detected and saved many many points usually driving to the ski fields. Alas not an option any more.

I would think that "unsafe driving" is more the issue than "speeding".

just because some bureaucrat has set a speed limit on a road doesnt mean you should drive at that speed.
in many cases the speed limit is set too low and sometimes it may be too high for the conditions.

I am sick of the nannie state - so call road experts saying we should drive slower all the time - that speed kills etc...

State governments need to increase the speed limit on suitable freeways and highways and let people drive to the conditions.

Compulsory driver training and regular testing of all drivers would make more difference than anything else.
Many drivers just don't know how to drive and have bad habits etc. How many people do you see driving in the right hand lane on a 2 lane road and think nothing of it.

Agree with this 100%.....so sick of the nannie state mentality, people with nothing better to do than dream up new rules and regs because they think they know best, and we all then have to adhere to the lowest common denominator approach.
I live in the country and there are plenty of times when u r in the middle of nowhere, lucky to see a car every half hour or so, good roads , and you have to sit on 110kph. At 150 you stay more alert and get to destination quicker=less time on the road so less time exposure to risk.

Just to add another thought - there is a big difference between "street racing" and "driving fast".
Driving fast (ie over 130Km/h) - within the right road conditions- and when done by a experienced driver is no more dangerous than driving at 110km/h. as Jack110 said - you stay more alert and get to the destination in less time.

If driving fast was so dangerous - then the autobahn in Germany would have many accidents.

Street racing - (yes - I did it when younger) - it can be an issue given the high powered cars now and when done by in-experienced drivers - it can end in tears.

No argument from me, but that isn't the point of what I wrote. The OP was asking for discussion on fitting an illegal device that negates or fools the speed cameras in Australia. Regardless of the setting of speed limits or anyone's own opinion of their driving skill the idea of putting said device in the car is stupid.

Actually as the OP, never having seen such a device I was simply asking if anyone had experience in using one of these systems. i.e do they work?

Radar detectors are legal in WA as far as I know, I'm not sure about jammers though.
