The information that was relayed to me was just 'the clutch burned'.

I'd be more than happy to ask the right questions if someone can let me know what they are..

Still sounds fishy.

Who bled your brakes? possibly an air bubble in the clutch line causing slippage at full declutch? Who knows?

I hear ya but at this point its done. I'm getting a far better clutch and a lighter flywheel. :headbang:

Can't wait to try the car out with the mods on the near horizon..! :ford:

EDIT: Hoping to hear from bama tomorrow, got to get new tunes for 85mm TB, not to mention e85

Will you be looking at whatever broken stuff gets pulled off your car and replaced? I'm kind of curious about the throwout bearing, since it sounds like it was somehow stuck.

I will not be present - car is down in Monterey still.
I have asked and got the thumbs up for pictures once the stuff is pulled apart.
I was told the pedal was not moving because it 'fused' together..

Doh

Oh well, I thought the clutch would get installed today. I did not think there would be any doubt, in fact, so I drove down to Monterey.

Unfortunately, they were not able to get the clutch installed satisfactorily.

The clutch does not engage until the very end of travel

Even worse, the car does not idle. It revs up to 2500 before settling to idle. I can't say I understand it. One gruff guy said something about the ECU needed to relearn after some magnetic plastic circular doohickey was shifted during the install. He also was talking about how it had to learn the new flywheel.

Sounded pretty bad but I'm at the mercy of this kind of stuff unfortunately.

I wound up leaving the car there based on the tech's suggestion to avoid possibly making things worse, as opposed to the 'let the ECU learn' theory and maybe take it home and see if it idles after a few hundred miles of driving.

EDIT2: Also left it based on tech's thought that he could re-bleed the lines. I suggested a vaccum bleeder and said nothing else./edit2

All in all, pretty disappointing day. I got some pix of the dead clutch but I dont really feel like posting them atm.

EDIT: The biggest disappointment is not getting the steeda gear installed tomorrow - as I had arranged - and not going to Laguna monday to see delta laptimes. Oh well.. could have been a great review for Steeda. darn clutch
