Okay Gents, I need a little input.

I've received my Steeda Pro-Action (non-adjustable) shocks and struts and billet aluminum rear shock mounts.

And I'm looking for a local shop to install them. The one estimate that I've gotten so far is $701.00.

And I'm like

Their labor rate for customer supplied parts is $125.99 per hour. They estimate 3 hours for the front, and 1.5 hours for the rear. Plus $89.00 for an alignment and $45 for shop supplies.

This seems high to me.

Thoughts?

I can do the front in a maximum of two hours (sometimes the lower two bolts fight me to come out and/or the replacement lowering springs are a pain to get in my bench compressor). The rear shocks I can do in about 30 min. including taking off the wheels. $125 an hour is not unheard of for customer supplied parts. Alignment price is correct. Shop fees... well... that happens.

That said, recently I found out a local Mustang shop wanted to charge $1200-1400 for springs and sway bars. So... guess it's how it goes.

Drive up to Atlanta... I'll get you hooked up for much better. :)

Ha! Thanks, Wildcatgoal. If I wasn't 1000 miles away, I'd take you up on the offer. Atlanta is a pretty city.

Eh... no Atlanta is not. But thanks?

Just shop around man. I mean a friggin' Midas should be able to pull this off.

You can even send me the rear shocks and upper mounts and I can do that here, then you can just bolt them in haha. I mean... that isn't hard. The front struts you have to change the spring and bang out some stubborn bolts, but still... not rocket science.

Yeah that seems really high, if you were closer to PA my friend, who's also a Mustang guy, has a shop and would do it for MUCH less. It seems like a lot of people on here have been getting some really high quotes lately.

Got a quote from a shop this morning that's close to my house.

$368.00. A lot better than $701.00. I'm gonna have them do the install early next week.

For less than $700 you can get a decent compressor, impact, sockets, and a good low pro jack and be able to do all your work. Pretty straightforward install.

I have been searching for access to a shop press on a Saturday to do 4 IRS spherical bearings. Hard to find that.

I just reserved a 2-post lift for all day on a Saturday at DIY Garage Indy Oct 21. Will switch my track suspension back to stock for DD and do the bearings in luxury. Only $20/hr for the lift if I bring my own tools.

Had a small local shop in Denver install practically the entire Steeda catalog last year. Including alignment was $900
