Is it sacrilegious to put GT type stripes on an EB? Part of me says yes.
No it is not, the EB can be ordered with the cool over the top stripes the wide stripe with the narrow one towards the driver side. They look awesome IMHO. I know many of us, me included are hesitant to make the car stand out more than it does but maybe I'm in the minority but these cars look as good with stripes as without them. You're old enough to remember the first muscle car wars, think about how those cars were painted and decked out and even a new Honda Odyssey would out perform most of those cars. Below is one of my cars, I think this is one of the nicest hoods ever made and greatest stripe packages ever (of course I do, its mine). As fun as it is to drive and with the feeling of the 455 my Mustang still outperforms it. I think I'm now just rationalizing my desire to stripe my Mustang. :like:

Ahh, the lazy GM Rally Stripes. That start, stop, start, stop. Though not so bad for a convertable I guess.

I am not clear what the ask a racer comments were about. You know that most race cars don't have stripes, right? Or only the stripes that are part of their sponsors graphics.

^ that's what I'm thinking on mine. I have Magnetic and I'm thinking black stripes with no pin stripe, or black stripes with white or bright blue pinstripe. I've seen a few magnetic grey cars with black stripes and a red pin stripe - I think that looks great but I just prefer a different color than red.

Definitely stripe it.

If you go painted, talk to Mark at Coulter Cadillac body shop. Bring your model tank collection if you go in person. Hate to see my months of arm twisting to get them to do mine not benefit others. Since that's not a staple, they were worried about impacts on typical job workflow and making a quote. One of their senior painters did custom paint elsewhere in a prior life.

Time was when stripes enabled you to identify the race car (or at least the race team running it) from a distance. Kind of an evolution from the previous body color representing the country in international racing.

Should I keep it plain or add stripes ? If stripes what color and where ? I don’t think I want stripes on the hood

I don't see you having any direction for this at all yet, so give yourself more time to first decide for yourself the 'if' part, and if so then at least refine how bold or subtle of a look you want. Not thinking you want the hood striped tells me that you're not sure you want to see the stripes, and I have a feeling that the car would look "only half done" without them.

So for now, just keep it plain.

I don't think for an EB that emulating the striping of a GT350 or GT500 would be a good way to go at all - I think it would end up being too much like putting GT350 badging on it. If you're going to do any striping at all, I'd suggest 'subtle' or 'minimum contrast', something that you might find acceptable on the hood because they wouldn't be screaming "LOOK AT US". If yes, then I think James1414 is on the right track with some shade of grey for the striping.

My friend has a 16 magnetic GT with black stripes, I'll ask him for a picture.
Thanks for the picture. It looks great.

Has anybody mentioned pin stripes?
I think some lite pin striping in white, silver, or red on a black car would make it stand out.

For OP: Maybe something like the California Special striping:

i debated adding stripes with myself for a year+... finally, decided to take the plunge. i simply wanted a different look after owning the car for over a year. had diamond white with metallic flakes and red trim stripes applied to my car. i realize not everyone is into stripes, but i am now. very happy with the transformation (including all in with the black powder-coated rims).
