I'm in the UK and was going to have Matt black stripes on my Guard GT. However the guys who do them say matt black is very difficult to keep pristine (presumably when compared with say a gloss black)

I'd really prefer matt - anyone here have experience/knowledge/advice?

Thanks Jez

I have matte stripes. No real different between matte and gloss except the matte seem to stain a lot easier. Or the stains are more noticeable. I wouldnt let anything like bird sh1t or anything else sit on em for any amount of time...

Thanks - good to know I'll keep a dam cloth in the car at all times.

How about the weather (which is often lousy in the UK this time of year) do you think that affects the black?

Do you take your car through a carwash? No one can seem to say if a normal carwash would be okay for the stripes. I know pressure washing may not be a good thing, but most carwashes I've seen don't pressure wash ( at least at high pressure) . Id love to get stripes but I can't always hand wash my car.. especially in winter.. so I need to know how durable these things are and how well they will hold up over time.

I have matt black stripes and go through the car wash all the time without any problems.

Thanks! This is the kind of Info I've been looking for. Someone who has experience actually living with stripes in a normal way. As much as I'd love to always hand wash and stuff, I don't yet have the facilities to do it until we get a house. So the car wash is the only place I can keep I clean for now..

It really depends on the car wash, there are several car washes near our shop. One of them will scratch paint and tear up stuff, the other wash is easy on the car. I have stripes on my car and go thru a drive thru car wash with no problems as long as I always go to the same place.
