Then when they see the 2018 prices, the dealers will be slapping ADM on the leftover 2017s.
Ha! You can say that again! I am one of the mopes waiting to buy a 2018 GT, so we'll see. I ain't paying sticker, much less ADM.

Yeah I don't think that is likely. No one is going to buy a 2017 if the price gap is closed between it and the 2018. Price is literally the only appeal of the 2017 at this point, now that all/most of the info is out there.

A Ford salesman of 22 years told me the other day that 50% of the dealers Mustang sales through the years have been for premium V6s. The Eco boost premium sales did not make up for the loss of the premium V6s for this eastern Connecticut dealer. He also questioned want Ford was doing with the 18 pricing.
Looking things up a bit, a 2016 V6 Base was $24,195.

An 2017 EB base was $26,195, Premium was $31,990.

I don't know how much extra it was to go to a Premium V6 in 2016 (over a Base V6) ... but even if it was $4,000, you're still looking at $31,990 vs $28,195.

That's almos $3800 bucks, or well over 10% just for the EB over the V6.

But in 2018, the Ecoboost Premium is $1500 less than it was last year...So that might help.

There is no Premium V6 for the S550.

Even in 2015? Thought they offered it for a year. I'm probably wrong.

Still, pretending you could option a V6 to premium in '15 or '16, there is still a large discrepancy in price.

The S550 never had a V6 premium. It's rumored the V6 only made the cut as Ford was unsure of the turbo 4 acceptance.

Ford made the V6 into the proverbial step child with the S550 change, hardly any significant options were available for it. The biggest option for it was a package with upgraded wheels and power seat. I think Ford shot itself in the foot when it tried to push the four banger over the V6 in a muscle car. The V6 made decent sounds and as fast as some V8 Mustangs from not all that long ago.

considering the s550 is selling leaps and bounds better than the s197 i would have to disagree

The v6 was kept for fleet sales. It was never meant to be adopted widely by the general public. Ford could make the v6 cheaper than the ecoboost. Thats why you couldn't get options on the V6.

If i were a teenager again and/or buying for budget purposes and could pick up a non v8 mustang for 20-23k between the eco or the 6 i would go 6 all day long. I never understood what was eco about a turbo 2.3. But luckily i can afford my gt comfortably :) my girlfriend is pissed when she gets in my car and sees 22mpg avg in mine and she has 21.2 in her eco escape...lol

yes there is nothing eco about ecoboost. our Focus ST uses the same gas as my GT and the 4.0L straight six in my Aussie built Ford Falcon.

S550 is not selling better than the S197:

S550's first year (2015) = 122K units
S197's first year (2005) = 161K units

S550's second year (2016) = 106K units
S197's second year (2006) = 166K units

S550's third year (2017) is not done yet, but selling 6-9K per month won't even get it to 100K units, whereas the S197's third year (2007) = 135K.

I wish we got a sport sedan here. Didn't they make a supercharged 5.0 falcon just recently?
Yes also based on the Coyote engine.
But now Australia factory closed

We have a sport sedan here. Check out the 2017 Fusion Sport AWD. 325hp and 380tq from it's 2.7L Twin Turbo V6. They are good for 1/4 miles in the high 13's at just shy of 100 mph. That performance is on par with Mustang GT's with the 4.6L 2V & 3V V8's (1999-2010)
