It'll look like a fun car drive don't get me wrong, but it's a hatchback and I could never own one.

i totally said the same thing always, no four doors, no trucks, no minivans. but well there is no two door in this generation, and the hatchback focus looks better than the sedan.

i got over all the quibbles I'd normally have for it, plus those factory recaros are so much better than what's in the mustang.

I'd love to have a Focus RS, but it'd be more than I'm willing to pay if I were in the market for a new car. I didn't think it would be $10k over the ST when I first saw it.

What's with all the Focus hate in here? Seems like a nice car to me, and probably a great buy... My only problem with it is that it's a turbo 4-banger, and doesn't sound remotely as sexy as a high-strung V8. Being a turbo-4, I also question it's track-readiness, but in stock form, it'll probably be fine.

I completely respect what Ford has done with the Focus. And after years of saying I would never buy a Mustang, here I am driving a Mustang. But I would never, and I mean never buy this car, especially over a Mustang GT, and ESPECIALLY for what they want for them. Seems like something you would be excited for as a rental car for a couple days, or as a company car. Depreciation on our Mustangs is bad enough, I would imagine this car drops in value by 40% time it is driven off the lot.

so your biggest issue with the Focus RS is that it's competitively priced with it's direct competition?

I honestly can't believe how much bitching I'm seeing about this car, but it's expected on a Mustang forum isn't it? Yet we all swing from the nuts of the GT because it's Ford's ultimate race car.

I expect Mustang fans on a Mustang forum. I expect Focus fans on a Focus forum, but damn you all seem to hate Ford's hot hatches with a passion, totally ignoring that the Fiesta ST, Focus ST and now the upcoming Focus RS all literally the top dogs of their class, and the Fusion is so good, that it's making it so there is no point or place for the Taurus to even be in the lineup.

FWIW, I didn't give much thought to the Focus at all until my wife expressed some interest in them in seeing a jalopnik article about the Shelby Focus ST, and I'm glad I did, because my ST is the shit. I can't even begin to imagine how awesome the RS will be.
Agreed lol. This is going to be an awesome car :hail:. I'd love to own one but I really don't think I could part with my Rubi.

I think it's pretty awesome and I'd probably even consider it over a GT in terms of retaining value and being much more unique.

Here it is in grey. Sorry for the crappy shadows, not much I could do with it considering the angle of the sun.

If i didn't have my EcoBoost Mustang i would've put in an order for a Focus RS. I could give two shits that "its still just a Focus", Ford put a ton of R&D into this car and it looks like they hit a home run.

I think most mustang guys just aren't hatch back guys... I think the RS is cool and all but I would never buy one unless i just had endless money and cars. even then it would strictly be for the driving experience, I can't get over how ugly hatch backs are.

That's funny to think about considering 25 years ago that statement wouldn't be relevant.

Stock vs stock maybe it is just as quick but so much more potential in the Mustang or any V8 car for that matter. 700+ hp is a breeze in the GT with very little work and daily driver behavior. Let's see the RS pull that off. Plus I agree the focus is ugly no matter what trim.

I think the focus RS looks pretty good. And I was not surprised by the price since I knew Ford would price it with the Sti.
I wouldn't be spending over 30k on a DD since it will just get ruined quicker than normal where I live. But if I was, I would get the Fusion Sport (even being forced to drive automatic) first then the Focus RS then the Mustang GT. If we are talking weekend/summer vehicle then Mustang GT only.
