Some more spy shots from a reader on Carscoops...

http://www.carscoops.com/2014/04/reader-spies-new-mustang-prototype.html

The V10 speculation by the reader I think is nonsense. 10 vs. 8 could have easily (and much more likely) been some kind of setting or evaluation score.

But the comment: "there are sweeping LED lights below the headlights in the shape of a soft J (similar to what you see on a new Lexus but without the sharp angle)" adds some more info that I don't think has been widely discussed on here.

Good find. Lol why would he assume they're talking about cylinders? Now watch this V10 rumor catch fire like the FPC...

Yup, one of the engineers forgot the engine config and needed a reminder. Makes perfect sense.

Wild speculation: Could SVT have a 5.2 liter V10 version of the Coyote in its skunkworks?

Excerpt:

If you haven't put 8 and 2 together yet, what Carscoops reader Ervin Mezey believes he heard from the two engineers in the 2015/2016 Ford Mustang prototype with the big quad pipes when he pulled up next to it and they said, "It's a 10 not an 8", is the engine cylinder number.

But could Ford really be working on a V10 Mustang? It sounds highly unlikely, but not entirely impossible with a stretch of the imagination and it would seriously turn a new page on performance Mustangs – wouldn't you agree?

But we have video of this car on YouTube and it sounds like a v8, not a v10. Big difference in sound between the two.

Perhaps it's a 10 second 1/4 mile car :D

Or it's got an 8-speed auto (not a 10-speed)............but then we're led to believe GT350 won't have an auto option.

And why is the support car a Chevy? :paddle:

if the conversation was about transmissions, the Quote: it's a ten, not an 8, would be totally ok
several times there were News, that Ford together with GM are developing a ten Speed Auto (it will be in the Corvette as well as in the Mustang in 2 to 3 years according to those reports)
so no reason to wonder, why the Support car was a chevy

for instance: take a look here

D'oh, sorry, yes, meant a 10-speed gearbox, not 8!

However, for all we know the engineers were talking about how much their steaks would weigh that night :D

They could have been talking about winning lottery numbers for all we know. The OP didn't seem very observant, judging by the 22" tire comment. It's possible he completely misheard or put his own ideas into what he thought he heard.
