Hi guys! I'm getting ready to buy a whipple, I was just wondering if there was any difference between ordering a whipple from whipple themselves or lethal performance or anyone else really. I noticed that whipple asks for the VIN and was just curious since Lethal doesn't (from what I know). Would appreciate any help :) thanks!

When you buy direct from Whipple, your VIN gets reported to Ford for warranty purposes. If you get it installed by a Ford Perf dealer, or any ASE certified shop (Stage 1 only) and/or use the Ford Perf version of the Whipple, your warranty stays intact. On my F150 I had Lebanon Ford do the install. Stage 1 is the only one/version Ford will keep your stock warranty in effect. If you go any further mods/tunes past that, warranty is voided. I used my truck for SickWeek last year and had the speed limiter bumped to 135 from 105 (stock limiter) so I could make full 1/4 mile passes and when I called Whipple to get the modified tune, they made it clear my warranty would be voided and I said WGAF, do it!

The other 2 vendors I would consider, are good, Lethal and Beefcake Racing. They'll support you if you were to have an issue, but make sure they know who is installing and talk to them about that if you plan to install and make sure they know that. I just went with the Ford dealer because they install a buttload of them and I knew they knew what they were doing. It's not a real hard install, but it is easier sometimes to pay someone to do these jobs than to do them yourself.

If you are gonna beat on the vehicle some, like take it to the track and such, I would invest in some high flow cats or get rid of the stock ones (assuming your state will not give you crap) as the stock cats have a limited life if you get exhaust temps up over 1700 degrees a lot and with a whipple and stock cats, I saw 1700 easily when I would get on it for 1/4 mile passes, so I added SPD hi flows to the truck.

Whipple tunes are pretty conservative, hence why Ford will warranty a Stage 1 but you leave alot on the table that Lund, Palm Beach, Oz, 5Star etc. and other tuners can get out of these set ups-

For now, I am keeping my 20 Bullitt NA. I added Stainless Works LTH, H-pipe and kept my stock active axle back and had 5Star tune it. Bullitt comes with the GT350 intake, Throttle body and air cleaner set up so a little better than a typical GT IRT intake mods. Car dynoed @486hp and 435 torque, so no blower on it for now as that is perfect for the manual and how I use the car.

Other than the lid? Not much if you get the base kit.
