Last year around this time I was looking at a Blackvue DR650GW- 2 channel system for the 2016 GT w/PP I was planning to purchase which never happened. Now that I'm working out the final details with the dealer for a 2017 GT w/PP, I'm doing research again.

Has much changed in a year dash-cam-wise?

Is the Blackvue now outdated and if so, what is the more desirable makes/models of dash cams?

Thanks

It records video, how can it really become outdated. It does exactly what it could do when you were originally looking at it and liked it. :D

I guess the same could be said for those 1980's camcorders that took full-sized VHS tapes right? :paddle:

That's the VHS camcorder I referenced in my last post.

I was looking at the DR650GW, I ended up going with the Thinkware F770.

Similar price, better video quality and color, I believe the GPS is more reliable. Blackvue's GPS can take years to get a lock. It also offers a rear cam, and has a smartphone app available. I also liked Thinkware's parking mode better as I need the camera to record while the car is off.

You can find some more info and good comparisons between the two cameras with a google search. F770 was a better camera IMO.

The newer DR650S drops down in price at times to below 300. Ive seen both 650 drop to $270 before... never seen a f770 come close to that price. what did you pay for yours? The 770 is a nice model however.

F770 Front is $279
F770 Dual is $389

DR650GW Front is $239
DR650GW Dual is $277
DR650S Dual is $369

Just pulled the prices off Amazon real quick, different memory sizes between some of them so its not a pure apples to apples comparison, but the prices are similar between the 2 cameras. For the small increase I'd say the F770 is worth it. I paid $279 for a front only F770.

I paid 269 for my girl's DR650s shipped. Just pointing out that prices drop real good on that model.
