The car has all the hardware for navigation to work. Ford just doesn't choose to allow the software to be activated/installed post sale.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking also. I found an upgrade kit on eBay but they want 1200 to purchase. I have to give my vin # and when it's connected the pony logo changes to ford logo. But 1200 is a little ridiculous.
