intercooler installed, now CEL

Installed the cpe intercooler and now have a CEL on. Should I have reset the computer by disconnecting the battery after installing? I also hacked off the bottom part of the grill shutters but still connected all the sensors. I have a sct 4 tuner for my other stang that I could plug in and run the code but it's in my garage and I'm at my girlfriends house..won't be able to get to it till tomorrow..I tried to check the code by the on board diagnostics by holding the "ok" button when starting and nothing showed. Any codes that may be known with just installing a intercooler or and taking off the lower portion of grill shutters?

Will do tomorrow. If it is because of the grill shutters what causes the code for it. I'm guessing a sensor but do we know witch one? Not in the market for a tune anytime soon.

Yep definately..it's on there..and the two that were attached to the grill shutters.. I probably should have pulled the positive terminal on the battery during the install. I'll double check all the connectors tomorrow but I double checked before I put the bumper back on. GoD I hope I don't have to take the bumper off again.

I just got the same intercooler. Was there a reason to hack-off the active grill shutters? I bought it because the ad for it said you didn't have to.

Don't need 'em. Its a shame they're even on the car. Can't do a simple IC install without removing those dumb things and throwing a CEL.

That's one of the reasons I bought this IC. I don't want to remove the ACS and deal with a CEL. But back to my original question: did you have to cut the ACS to install the CP-E? I plan on installing mine this weekend. Thanks.

I wouldn't get too worried about this until we know what the code it. It could be unrelated to the FMIC, just something that happened during the procedure. The first thing I would do is read the code if you can so we know what it is, then clear it and see if it comes back (depending on the code). Even just disconnect the battery and reconnect.

Others have said they didn't get a code when they removed the grill shutters but kept the sensors for it connected and zip tied up so the only thing I can think is maybe the sensors are reporting the grill shutters are closed when they should be open and reporting that? If I understood right, the grill shutters are physically controlled by wind right? So at higher speed, the air closes them to divert air around the car making it more aerodynamic for MPG. The sensors would probably just be confirming they closed and reporting when they are open again. This is just my understanding of what I heard. If anyone knows different, please chime in.

When you say sensors, isn't there just one sensor for it? There was also the TIP sensor on the driver's side, very important. If that isn't plugged in or not well, you will definitely have problems. Another is the temperature sensor in the bumper. Also, the bumper has some little holes in the bottom that must be oriented correctly when you reinstall it.

I don't know if the mustang's ags is different but on the other ecoboosts, the ecm controls the ags system via the little plastic gearmotors on the side. Pulling the whole system out and disconnecting the motors will generate a code but not turn on the cel. Pulling the ags out and leaving the motor connected shouldn't do anything.
I haven't seen the eb ags up close. Are there motors for the upper and lower shutters?

I cut the lower portion of the grill shutters off because I installed a lethal lower grill delete and I wanted to show off the IC nit the shutters..lol..I could have kept them so when you install yours you can keep them on the car.

I'll have the code pulled soon once I get to my house and we can get down to the bottom of it.

I plugged the sensor into the intercooler, also the one into the motor for the grill shutters. Their was also a 3rd sensor on the passanger side of the bumper in the top corner of the lower grill. I thought it was part of the shutters but I guess it's a temperature sensor from what everyone is saying..

Ok looks like my IC isn't the problem..I did install a upr clean side catch can last week and after doing some research it looks like that might be the culprit. P04DB is related to the crankcase ventilation system and not the IC.

So false alarm everyone....lol

I think it has something to do with the ground strap. Did you put it on top or bottom
