We all know the general consensus after countless threads and I'm in agreement. Actual cold air intake for street and drag strip...usually not worth the money over the factory box. Most of the gains come from a tune, and the extra 5hp (maybe) from an aftermarket sealed CAI isn't worth the money from a purely performance standpoint, and that's assuming we're talking about a CAI that keeps IATs down to a similar level as stock. There, saved everybody from another long discussion about CAIs.

Anyways, I'm wondering if anybody has tried one of the Airaid/K&N intake tubes on their 18+? Any difference in sound or throttle response? I already have a drop in, but thinking maybe an intake tube could be a slight improvement from the factory tube, or am I crazy? Seems cheap enough, although since I already have a drop in I don't get as much value.

Something like this for reference: https://www.americanmuscle.com/kn-mustang-series-57-fipk-cold-air-intake-57-2605.html

And you still see steeda posting a new CAI Design for the 2015-2020 claiming lower IAT than stock & outperforming every other in the market. With specific claims of 30 whp

Im doubting its better than stock. Because 99.9% of the time like you say its requiring a tune and the claimed gains are from the trims in the ecu modified.

Personally I think it's cool because it looks better than the factory tube with the nutsack hanging off of it.
I'm also a fan of the factory 18+ air box, it's highly effective at keeping the IAT's down and flows really well.
I don't know if this will actually make any more power or effect throttle response enough to spend that kind of money. I'm curious to see if anyone tries this out and what the results are.

Just want to share.

I have spent hours on a dyno testing various CAI set ups.

100% of the time, replacing the factory tube with anything other than a Mishimoto tube (on 15-17 cars)...the aftermarket tubes LOST power.

Stick to the stock tube, or go full aftermarket.
