I just started looking into doing this today and was at a loss for any good info when searching. What sticks are being used with the best results? Or would it be more beneficial to do LT's for performance?

L&M makes intake cam only sets for about $800 that seem to be worth 15-20whp with zero losses down low which is nice.

WAY more power for the dollar with LT headers, especially when you factor in installation cost. And since you're taking stuff apart on the engine, you might as well do the OPG and crank gears while you're in the general vicinity. All for 15-20 HP... not convincing me. I've seen a dyno from the L&M cams with a GT350 manifold tuned (but not yet revised) by Lund and he got like 10-15 HP or so with long tubes and the curve wasn't vastly improved or ultra convincing to do this surgery. Maybe I will in the future but honestly... meh. Not convinced yet. I gotta get a ride in one to "feel the difference" so to speak to be convinced, I think. The curve seemed to be the same.

LT-equipped with tune car will pull away surprisingly fast from a non-LT tuned car. Ask me how I know. :)

I guess I should have added the caveat that I will be doing the installs...

I guess I should have provided more info.. I will be doing the installs, and the reason why I am even considering cams is that I will be doing the OPG, etc and figured while that is apart...why not do the cams. But, in the end I will have the ability to chose one or the other and the best bang for the buck, looks like LT's will be the way to go in either case. Thanks for your help! Can't the intake cams be done with just removing the valve covers?

Well in that case, if you have the money... do it.

You will need to remove the timing cover as well. (front engine cover)

Why not get in on the camshaft group buy
There has been a lot of talk about the comp cams being too aggressive for the stock springs. This is why I got the L&M cams. They are also half the price and zero power loss down low which is important if you drive on the street a lot.
