Quick question: what is the airraid cold air intake insert?

I installed this about a year ago and do not remember any sort of insert that came with my Airaid cold air intake. Anybody help me out

The insert is molded into the S550 5.0 Version, previously it was removable for the S197 versions. So that if you wanted a tune you just had to remove it, now guys are cutting out the insert which is molded in...

Do a search you will see some threads on it...
