Just got a few quotes: (34, Rating 1, Brisbane, Agreed $52000)
AAMI: $1300
QBE: $826
NRMA: $819
Budget Direct: $643!!!! (I didnt even think they would offer Mustang insurance!) And they only wanted $508 if it was for market value.

I was quoted $1208 with RACV. Apparently coles insurance is very cheap.

Cheap insurance is good, but do some research too, I have no experience with budget direct but earlier today I saw something on facebook about budget direct refusing to make a payout for a stolen / burned out vehicle. Stolen from the home residence. A quick google search also suggests its very dificult to get them to co-operate when making a claim. If i can find a link to the story im talking about ill come back and edit this.

Whilst it's true that people are more likely to take to the internet to have a whinge rather than praise good customer experiences...............where there's smoke, there is generally fire close behind.

Quote from one feedback in that link: 'Budget direct are lying thieves, having hit a kangaroo I had my claim rejected, first excuse they gave me was that I had roof racks, I didn't have roof racks and if I did, what the hell????'

Roofracks..... What if you have a CAI or supercharger?!? Tinted lights? Badge delete panel? Ha

Despite being slightly cheaper, I wasn't planning on going with budget direct. I've been with NRMA before and trust them a lot more, so would pay the extra bit to go with them.

It really just surprised me that budget direct even offered stang insurance, given that they consistently advertise they 'Don't insure Captain Risky' to keep prices down. I expected a stang to come under the high risk category and they would steer clear of it. Also surprised me because all of those prices were cheaper than what I've been paying for BF XR6T thats worth less than a quarter of what the stang is.

XR6T is Captain Risky!

But yes, I'm surprised how cheap the Mustang insurance is for a brand new car.
Let's hope that continues and doesn't get pushed up.

AAMI where we have 2 cars already insured: $1,079 and $1,225 excess
NRMA where we have 2 policies (home and contents) $890 with $800 excess
Policy for 60 year old daily drive and wife added as second driver.

Quite a difference and AAMI surprises me as to the cost!!!

And in some slightly scary news, went to Suncorp yesterday to deal with some house insurance stuff relating to new property purchase, and thought I may as well get a quote on the mythical Mustang (GT, fastback).

$1,407 + $1,200 excess AFTER 15% multi-policy discount. I'm 38, have Rating 1, never made an insurance claim, etc.

Not sure when Mustang arrives, but I might well be shopping around! (though not keen on contracting insurance coverage with a company unlikely to pay)

Was expecting $1,200 as a maximum.

Try NRMA man. Got a great deal a couple weeks ago.

Covers all legal mods.

$1,200 something with NCB protection. +$800 excess.

29. Clean driving history. NSW

Rates have dropped slightly since the last time I checked.

Yeah, will do as we get closer. That sounds about right to me. Especially given that there will be a few discrete mods. Don't think mine arrives until August/September (who knows?), so plenty of time to get something okay. Looks like it will be the pioneers who suffer the most.

I've had personal experience with Budget Direct and I'll state up front I don't work for them or know anyone who does BUT, I was hit in my brand new Ranger a year ago, Budget Direct were awesome. Sent me to a quality repairer (whom I know of) I really couldn't fault their customer service at all. I have insured my wifes latest car with Bingle only because Budget Direct don't have it listed and I gave up trying...

My sister just had a shitfight with NRMA. Small roof fire caused by wiring. She bought the house 5 years ago, no work / cabling done to the house, only a shed added on by a licenced electrician and NRMA would not pay. Declined the claim on the basis of faulty wiring in the roof causing the fire. WTF? If the cable was 30 years old and faulty and starts a fire, isn't that what insurance is for?
