I should state that I absolutely HATE frivolous lawsuits. Hearing about some of the ridiculous lawsuits in this country drives me crazy. DV, however, is not frivolous. It's a real thing and it's a price all of us will have to pay one day when we decide to sell our cars (well those of us that have been involved in accidents obviously).
That's cool nothing out of pocket. I agree, DV is very real. When I had my Infiniti G35, I was hit broadside by a guy that decided to make a left turn at an intersection while I was coming through the intersection from the opposite direction. The light allows left turns, but only when it's safe/clear. Turns out the kid was in country illegally, and when the cop rolled in behind him in the turn lane, the kid panicked and tried to turn before the cop could. Anyway, it was over $7K in damage and the unibody had to be straightened at the drivers side passenger door. When I went to trade that car in, it was classified "wholesale" due to frame damage. I ended up getting $12K for the car, and the guy said without the accident I would have gotten over $15K. When my car was fixed, I asked about DV, but since my insurance had to fix the car via Uninsured Motorist, they wouldn't pay DV. I say get what you can while you can. Your certainly going to see less come trade-in time.
