I'm re-visiting this thread.

Have any owners fitted after market exhausts and not bothered to notify their insurers?

Yes. That's exactly the kind of thing I like to admit to on an open web forum.

Informed Direct line about my new exhaust.
My premium went up exactly £0.

Nice

I'd love to hear what you said to them as I need to call them and ask about an Exhaust, probably soonish!

Adding my exhaust to the insurance cost me an extra £26 to add it.

Basically told them new aftermarket stainless steel exhaust for sound purposes only. No performance benefit (non worth mentioning). They went though a list of options, of which matched what I told them and was told no extra cost.

When I first insured my car with them, I told them about the after market stripes... no additional charge.
Also told them about my aftermarket wheels... again no additional charge.

Once I receive my BMR CB005 cradle lock out kit and fit them to the car with my Steeda differential bushings, I need to inform them of that and see what that costs. I had a chat to them today about what it would mean to my premium, but not really sure they got what the mods meant and how to class them.

Direct Line won't let you make certain modifications if you are under 25.

I know they're ****'s with certain things down to age. The main stuff they care about are:
Engine Mods
Resprays (And wraps apparently!)
Sound system
Alloys
Spoilers

Exhaust is going to be my main kicker, probably one of the very very few mechanical mods i'll do, i'll stick to cosmetic and mostly unnoticeable jazz but keep them updated with everything.

Just got a quote from Aviva protected no claims, declared rear spoiler, full exhaust, on a GT £333

They said no to my wheel spacers and a Gtrak brace. Didn't take my personal information so presumably they've just decided no more spacers or braces for now.

Called Admiral, £35 to add an exhaust, I presume that may include an admin fee!

Will call Directline today, spoke to a woman over their web-IM service last night, she was like 'Yeah the team can put it on, I see no reason why theyd charge you extra for it' etc etc... I then told her I was 21, she didn't seem to bat an eyelid and responded 'Cool car for a 21 year old!!!'

Like, thanks, but just load your system and tell me lmao.

Hope you saved the chat to email so you could quote it back to the person you speak with lol
