Has anybody use insulating pads on the stockairbox to reduce intake airtemps?

I read they are minimal...if any benefits while datalogging. Honestly not worth it.

For the most part, ram air for a vehicle is a myth. Below mach .43 free air is not compressible.

Porsche and BMW actually proved 10BHP increase at speeds of over 70mph when air was essentially rammed into the air box.

They did not go into detail though whether the extra horsepower came from the ram air effect or simply the lower IAT's, but I have the Velossa and I can highly recommend it as it does improve throttle response and at highway speeds the car is more responsive and pulls better.

I still cant decide whether to do say an Airaid sealed box or
A) Keep factory box as is
B) Keep factory box drop in a K&N etc
C) Keep Factory box replace tube only with Airaid better flowing conection tube to factory box with K&N
OR
D) Full Aftermarket Airade box etc ???? not sure if the value is there spending $700 ???

Don't waste your money buddy.

Do the following:
1. Buy an Afe Pro Dry S panel filter (safer for MAF sensor) - $60
2. Buy Airaid modular intake tube - $140
3. Velossa big mouth ram air duct - $100
4. Heat reflective shielding for intake manifold - $30-$75
5. Tune - $200-$400

The above with vastly improve throttle response and put your car sub 12s in the quarter mile and all cost sub $500 and you get to keep your IAT's nice and low.

Lol i don't think the tube is necessary, considering how expensive it is!

AFe Pro Dry S filter is quite good ....costs a couple bucks more but you don't have to worry about oil and your MAF sensor(not sure if really is problem but don't have to worry).

The intake is pretty good on this car, I have thought about the Velossa Big Mouth, did they come out with a EB version yet? I don't have the splitter on my car so...

Sign up for AFe newsletter and you will get a coupon pretty quick...not sure how many filters they expect me to buy but I like their diligence.:D
