Install yourself vs Pay a shop?

Same here. Actually I'd consider building a shortblock but Auto Transmissions... hell no! If you forget one Check ball during assembly you are screwed and end up tearing that crap all apart to redo it... don't ask me how I know this... :frusty:

:clap2: HAHA, auto trans isn't that bad, I've probably done mine (in my truck F150, mountaineer, son's mustang (which went into his Fairmont), my fairmont) It's not too bad, if you have the right tools (seal installers, piston spring compressors) it's pretty straight forward...Best way to learn is to just jump into it...:cheers::cheers:

What do you guys generally use jack stands or ramps. Obviously Jack stands has advantages for the rear lol

I hate cars. And patience is not a strong suit. Plus I'm lazy.
I would rather pay a shop then lose my nerve and break something. And that something may or may not have anything to do with the car.
I pay to have my tires rotated.
