Inside rear fenders got a question?

I looked inside my cars rear fenders and it this is what it looks like is this normal could someone else please see their car if its the same. Thanks

Just looked at mine, and the liners have the same cut-outs as yours but mine look a little smoother along the edges of the cut-outs.

The rear inner fender lining was cut with a weed whacker.

Rear wheel well interiors...corrosion?

All of my other vehicles have had plastic well liners to protect the sheet metal from road gravel/sand and salt, I have not had much problems with corrosion.
But since the rear side panels are made of steel and the wheel well interiors appear to be made of some kind of fabric...I wonder how well the fabric will hold winter moisture and road salt?

I read a study in the 80s about how you could insert indoor outdoor carpet around semi truck tires to reduce Road spray by about 75% and greatly increase visibility in the rain around large trucks . I am guessing this is an evolution of that. This type of liner probably condenses fine mist to water droplets in addition to padding road debris.
