After installing this upgrade, my car has been experiencing battery drain. I installed last Wednesday and Friday the battery was dead. It was only a year old. We tried charging it and the charger said bad battery. So I went and took the battery for a swap, since it was under warranty, that Friday. Boom. This new battery is dead today.

Anyone else have or had this issue?

Updates: I got the battery charged 100% and grabbed a multi-meter. Then, performed a parasitic drain test. It’s showing a parasitic drain of 1.08Ma - 1.28Ma (milliamps) and not going away. So tomorrow I will pull the Audio Headunit fuse and test again. Until then, the battery will stay disconnected.

I will let you know what happens.

Is the SYNC display remaining on but with a black screen? You may be able to see this type of behavior more in complete darkness.

I didn’t get to pull the fuse and check yet. But Infotainment emailed me and said their Ford manager told them the APIM on the back of the new screen should be a different one.

I need contact American Muscle to have them initiate the swap with them.

But I’m still going to do the test to make sure.

What does AM have to do with it?

If you purchase the product through AM’s website you are their customer and Infotainment is just the supplier. If I would have just purchased directly from Infotainment, this would have been a non-issue. AM messed up the order. It’s their fault the wrong APIM was sent.

Another update::

I got all the answers I needed. I pulled both #32 (SYNC/ Instrument cluster and other) and #33 (Audio Head Unit), to get the Sync3 system out of the mix.

The Ford tech I called by my house said S550’s don’t fully go to sleep for 45 mins. Our cars actually pull up to 2amps, after shutting it off, until it goes to sleep.

So I hooked up the multimeter and let the car sit. I went back out 25 minutes later. Seems like it went to sleep faster than he said. It was only pulling 50Milliamps. That’s the max a car should pull, when off.

American Muscle okayed the APIM swap and Infotainment.com is shipping the replacement. Can’t wait to have this resolved.

Sorry, I completely missed the part about an AM part.

Hi Matthew, I know this is a bit of an old issue but I may be having the same problem. Do you recall you verified that the APIM was incorrect?
