If you don't want the story, skip to the end.

:rant:Warning, contains a rant at some point!:eek::rant:

On August 11th, after years and years of saying I was to buy a mustang (10-11 years), I finally put my deposit down after persuading the parents to get off my case about it (No they are not paying for it, just to confirm), this was after a test drive in late july in the states, which, after seeing my sheer excitement and the smile that couldn't be wiped off what could normally be described as a 'resting b1tch face'/emotionless then 20-year old.

After talks with the dealer and getting the Nav/Shaker Pro pack added to my car, agreeing the spec - Race Red with Black interior and Manual Fastback (Of course). I was told 'Late July, August' for the delivery. No problems there, I was planning to wait until September, to pick up the new plates, i'd specifically told my dealer that if a car was available in June/July time that I would purchase it but not take it off his hands until September 1st 2016 - Because of the new plate (and for financing reasons).

A month on into september, I turned 21, I got promoted, and financials looked better - especially in the case of the mustang.

Late october hit and I was emailed by my dealer informing me that my car was to be built by the end of 2015! And then that my car would be with me by march - fantastic, that's 6 months ahead of schedule, absolutley brilliant. Little did I realise this was the start of a massive backlog.

I called my dealer the next day and he said my car was to be built November 11th, I calculated the dates, worked out the financing and contacted my wrap company (Who if you've followed any of my posts, will know are doing a one off colour for my mustang and a special few extras)
etc. Began to call the dealer every few days confirming things I needed etc, and then joined Mustangforum.uk (And then shortly after - here).

On november 15th I was called to tell me my car hadn't been built for a number of reasons. During the call my dealer also informed me that my car would be built by the end of 2015 (And then to cover his back said:) "Still way within the 12 months!" (which i agree with).

After parading these forums and pestering the knowledgeable gents, and kind resourceful souls we've got here, I came across Andy's contact details, which lead to Karen's as well.

Once contacting Karen I was told my car was hopeful for end of December, but not likely, however early Jan was likely. On december 18th, I was informed that my car was 'locked-in'. Which, I could only assume meant it was to be built soon after the plant reopened from christmas break.

Jan hit and I began my emails to Karen for updates, bless her soul she's probably got annoyed with me emailing her by now ! I was stillt old No update repeatedly, but my stubborn nature had to keep going, never giving up just on the hope of knowing a smidge of information!

Earlier this week I got an email stacey that changed all of this - I was told that my Car >HAD been built< i was on training that day, I was over the moon, I told everyone and anyone, and i'm sure they're sick of me talking about my Mustang, It was a 'Oh my god its hopefully coming in March!'.

On Wednesday this changed, I got an Email from Karen telling me i'd got a VIN and my car was to be built WEEK COMMENCING FEB 1ST? (Hang on a minute, didn't Stacey tell me it was already built?). This confused me so i questioned Karen.

Today I got my response, and it's annoyed the hell out of me, It's true, my car won't be built until w/c feb 1st.

Now, for those that skipped my life story above, the shortened version is this. I'm not annoyed that my car is ahead of schedule, i'm not annoyed that my car will be coming in the middle of the reg plate period. I am annoyed that i've been given so much misinformation, so much broken promises, and it just feels like a massive farce that all of these issues can go on, before i've even got my car! No, I won't be cancelling my order, hell f**king no, Ford are lucky that this car holds an incredibly special place in my heart and life, and that it's actually an incredible piece of machinery because otherwise, I would be purely based on the fact of being p!ssed around with different dates and the broken promises.

I'm generally a guy that looks on the positives, i'm happy that at this age I can afford a car like this, that I can make my dreams happen, that i'm doing it on my own, because I want to, I'm happy that there are people like Karen and Andy about that care about customer service and are willing to put up with, what can only be describe as my passive-aggro style of typing (I usually mean most things in jest!).

Mmmmm, not good.

Problem is (& this is what I'm struggling with), getting some bad news is annoying but some news is better than no news right? Perhaps not. Perhaps it's better to leave alone & wait. Probably. Will I? Hell no! Something tells me that you won't either

Try to be positive: you haven't missed the opportunity to be excited about a 'build date': okay, grasping at straws here

Chill there fella. Frustrating but no point having a heart attack over it. It will get here, and probably within the 12 months you were originally quoted

Twin Turbo Tell me about it :(.
Jimboy2 (Few months) True say, just too trusting on my side by the sounds of it
Col3371 Yes, any news is good news, what i'm annoyed with is that I'd been told it'd been built (was to be built, would be built etc), however they were blatant lies or mistakes. That's awful expectation management from ford and just makes them look diabolical in terms of customer service, service is there, but the standard levels and expectation management might need working on.
You're right I haven't missed that 'Build date' hype, i was hoping i'd completley jumped the gun and missed it.
tooley no heart attack. It'll be here within the original 12 months, but also 3 months after i'd been originally requoted for (Nov 11th), 2 Months over the 'End of dec' promise, and a few weeks to a month over the 'Early Jan / 19th jan / its been built / it'll be built W/c 1st feb' issues. Just annoyance over the general lack of care for the customers expectations.

Crap, thought that stacey had it under control as well, just goes to show that sometimes we cant even take what the 3 best contacts we have say as always 100% fact, with any luck it will get done in the next 2/3 weeks and you can take it from there again.

Could be worse. I'm approaching my first anniversary. £2K down on 24/01/2015. Had a build date of 05/12/2015 but that was cancelled it seems and now I have no build date at all.

It's now getting a "Fawlty Towers" sort of feeling - where you wonder just how bad and shameful it can actually get.

Indeed, Karen apologised on Stacey's behalf, and that Stacey must have misread something (I don't know how Stacey can give me a 'Has been built', but Karen reads 1st Feb 2016, no clue on that!). That being said, i'd still take both of their words over my wretched dealers.

Well, I've been told 1st Feb, (That week for build by Karen) which sets me up, assuming i dont get Stark 'd, for a week commencing 25th April Delivery. Which is practically May by the time i'd be able to get to my dealer and get it. Not good, as I had changed expectations to early march/mid march/late march/early April :frusty:

CJ01 Feel your pain, obviously not as long standing as you but the general expectation setting and then destroying the hopes is a massive p1ss take. If you're going to give somebody a build date, stick to it, if you can't get them on that, get them in as soon as possible to rectify it, don't give out a build date, or misinformation or false promises if you can't back them up, surely that's basic customer service... Or should I start a Customer Service consultancy firm :|

I did think the build date was a bit optimistic with not having a window sticker. That was there for about a couple of weeks before car was built with the build date week . The day after my car was built ETIS updated with build date.
Considering you ordered August I think your still doing OK.

Dude. You have been on this forum for How long?
Why have you been taking anything ford have said as gospel?
This^. All day long.

You still yet to experience the "will it make it onto a boat or will it sit at the docks for a couple of months?" dilemma.

Until it turns up you can't trust anything anyone tells you.

Besides, you should have to suffer the same as the rest of us that have had to wait almost a year! Consider it an initiation! :D

11 months to the day for me today. Car probably under a foot of snow somewhere in eastern US. If I'm lucky I'll see it by the end of March - 13 months. At least later orders won't have to wait that long.

Mate, when the car finally arrives you will not care two hoots about anything else.
Enjoy the fact that your getting a car to be well proud of mate.
Cheers
