I don't know if its been posted already but yesterday after work I come home and flipped on the tv to catch my weekly Motorweek program. At the very end they had a small displacement modern muscle shootout. The big 3, ford, chevy and chrysler. Camaro, charger and mustang
Two v6's and the ecoboost. So they boasted about the camaro's high powered v6 but had too many positive things to say about the s550. But I still thought they would give the win to chevy but no the mustang won over because of the track course handling. Wow motorweek. Good judgement . And thanks for restoring my confidence in your testing process

I saw that as well. The Camaro beat out the GT in the V8 category, which I wasn't happy about, but the EB won out in the "daily driver" comparison.

Isn't the Camaro a 6.2 litre? Only 20 more ponies with a bonus of over a litre displacement?? I'd say that's wasteful if you ask me.

Well I dont think the v8's were mentioned. This was mainly an econo shootout. There was a $34,000 cap. Therefore the ecoboost was chosen instead of ford's v6 mustang.

All things being equal, that generally yields an engine with less internal pressure and cylinder head stress.

Doesn't matter to me: I didn't enjoy driving the Camaro SS all that much when I was shopping, and buying one equipped similarly to my GT was going to cost roughly an additional $10k.

I watched the show. The V8's were in the beginning of it and the econos were at the end.

The show wasnt entirely about the pony cars. It was Motorweek. A public tv program about many different offerings from the auto makers. The program had a five minute seqment at the very end about the lesser displacement performance cars. Now if it was taken from a larger program im not sure

I watched the show. I watch it all the time. The episode you're talking about had the V8's at the beginning of the program and the "econos" near the end. It's a great program that I've been watching since the late 1980's..

Now thats very likely because I now remember I didnt see the actual first 10-15 minutes. Guys I apologize for my old memory. Ive been watching Goss and the guys since the 80's too..Well now I wanna see the first part of the show!

The thing that nobody talks about is that you can get a GT for 30k if you go base while the cheapest SS is close to $40. Although I will admit that magna ride is ridiculous.

Thanks for posting that. I saw part one on YT as well. I own an S550 and a Challenger ScatPac. Had they tested the automatics instead of the manuals, it would have turned out a little different.
