I know i read this here but the search function does not cooperate with me.
I vaguely remember our GTPP pad thickness new at 16mm including the plate and the acceptable range at like 12 or 13.
Would you guys happen to know what the acceptable pad thickness for DE days is? Isn't is like half the life of the pad?

Thanks

I think the usual requirement amounts to 50% friction material thickness. It may be written as "less than 1/2 worn" or "minimum 1/2 pad life remaining". Backing plate thickness is irrelevant.

The thinner the pad gets the more quickly it can overheat, and with the downsides to running out of brakes, it sounds like most racers toss them after they get down below half friction material thickness. While you might run a street pad down close to the backing plate, that’s not the standard procedure for track pads.

Edited post #2 to emphasize that it's usually a requirement.

Normally it is specified on each track day entity's downloadable tech inspection checklist sheet.
