Does anyone know how to remove the side mirrors? I pulled the door panel and there is one torx bolt that looks like it holds the mirror. I removed this bolt but the mirror is still tight. Anyone know what else is holding it on?

yeah, that really doesn't help. I figured it out. The bolt I was looking at did not hold the mirror. There is a big sqaure of tape that you have to remove. Then there are 2 bolts and a nut that hold the mirror on. You will have to look up into the door and you will see the bolts and nut. The window glass has to be all the way up to get to the top bolt in the back. The little bit that the window drops when you open the door was blocking me from getting to it.

I didn't see your message until after I had already put the mirror back on. I will be taking it back off in a week or two and will snap you some pics then. I completely dissassembled it. The painted cover just snaps into place.

Yep, just did mine today, they were easy. Thank you, though.

Don't know if one or both of you have blinker lights in your mirrors. Can you tell if there is a harness connector there for if you wanted to add a blinking assembly?
Does it look like the front cover would hold the light? Meaning that a cover with light and the cover w/o light would fit into the same exact fitment?

Or does it look like the light is not part of the cover, but you'd need to get a whole new mirror assembly to add a blinking light. (again, is there a harness plug already there?

Thanks.

The mirrors with the turn signals integrated into them are Premium mirrors. The premium mirror covers are not compatible with base mirror covers. Also there is the heated mirrors which is the 3rd and final version of mirror cover. All three are different in some obscure way.

The premium mirror coves and the heated mirrors covers may look the same the the heating mechanics and electronics inside take up difference space so the hooks that hold the covers on are located in 2 different places.

So short answer is cover with the light cutout is the same as the others, just a cover. Ask me know I know :D

Now if you are trying to upgrade to turn signal mirrors on a base model you will need to wire up the signals somehow as I highly doubt that Ford provided the full harness when its not going to be fully utilized (again ask me how I know :( lol)

what are the part #s for black covers on a GT premium? I want to change mine from white to black and thought this would be a good way to do it. Also, where is the best place to order them from?

In a true Mirrors for Dummies way...
Please 'splain how you know. ;)
I am amazed that a car with out mirrors is speced with a diff harness. Then boy, they must have a gazillion harnesses. :eyebulge:

Bottom line, If you changed a base model to blinking (what I'd like to consider) how did you do it, how big a PIA was it? WOuld you do it again?
Overall cost? Like I said... lookin' for 'splenation for DUmmies (me).

I purchased a set of oem mirror covers to make carbon fiber replacement ones. So thats why I found out there are 3 part numbers for the mirror covers and what the differences are.

I didnt change mine as they come on premiums. I know or 99% sure that the harness doesnt have the blinker pins because I was at Ford talking with them about retrofitting heated seats in my recaros same as the premium seats have. Trouble is that the recaro option deletes teh heating / cooling radio faceplate buttons for it. So I figured like you that simple enough I'll just order teh buttons and plug it in to an existing harness. Well Ford guys at teh desk told me that wouldnt be possible as Ford tries to save every penney by not providing unnecessary harness features. So even if I got the buttons there would be nothing to plug them into. I would have to buy the other harness and reflash my computer just to enable the feature. Then I still have to add another harness to go to the seats and the seat heating elements etc. Its possible but PITA.

So for the mirrors its a hugh chance that if you buy the blinker or maybe have to buy the entire mirrors that the wiring harness "may" not have the ability to make use of them. If the harness plug has the pin outs for it but no wire then you can easily add the pins and add a separate wire. This is the most likely scenario. Im doing this on my 09 GT500 for retrofitting 13/14 GT500 puddle lights

My car is a base model and the the mirror harness definitely does not have wires for pony lights, heat, or turn signals.

Does the harness plug have several empty pin holes? Hopefully its the same plug for all just with missing wires

The plug itself is capable of holding the wires, they are just empty. I believe the actual connectors are the same regardless of options.
