How to have Waze NOT show up on the infotainment screen?

Whenever I go to plug in my mobile phone to charge while I'm driving and using Waze, the car automatically wants to bring up Waze on the infotainment screen, which I do not want. How can I stop this and just have my phone charge? Thanks.

You have to turn off Android Auto on the infotainment screen. I think there is a way to do it on the phone too but it's buried in the app.
The other thing you can do is buy a USB charger that goes in the cigarette lighter port. I use this when I just want to charge my phone or something else:
