Buy a scat pack challenger with the 8speed auto if you're spending close to 40k. Hard to beat an ecoboost or v6 in the mid to upper 20k range. 40k the scat pack is better buy imo.

agreed, if you're gonna buy a fully loaded gt, the scat pack would be the better choice for just a touch more.

I've driven a 2015 WRX. All of the mustangs felt faster to me on the street. Not even sure how you get the impression of underpowered unless you're in D and automatic??

I know Subies, this one feels faster. I drive in sport running 91. I shift at 4800-5200, sometimes higher....I get a nice pull in there. I was going GT originally but the idea of less weight on the front end appealed to me because I do a good share of hill driving at 3000-5000 above sea level and this car is a screamer on the turns with the lighter front and the torque band is dead on for this.

He said he wants light weight, not a big tank lol. The scat pack is a fast good looking car but a gt or ecoboost will kill it in the corners

I have taken 4 test drives in Ecoboost Mustangs now and I feel like I am not getting the full potential out of the engine. I felt like all of them were underpowered; but I may not be driving them correctly.
Three of the cars were manual and one was automatic.
How high are you reving them out and at what RPM are you shifting?
Bytor has it right. Revving the engine high doesn't work well in the EB because the torque is down low, and the drive mode makes a huge difference.

Put it in track mode (or sport) and keep the revs in the 2000-4000 range. That means shifting earlier than you're probably used to, but you'll know you've got it right when it feels like the car is pulling the steering wheel away from you. :D This car will do that, but not if you drive it like a V8.

that's a lot of test drives. you should know by now which of the two you really want. i would go with the car that doesn't need you to press up up down down left right left right select start or the right fuel to feel right. good luck with the purchase.

Ok, this brings back memories! Was it Akari Warriors? I can't remember the game - dammit!

Edit: I think you forgot the A B B A!

Another thing to consider is the extra weight of the passenger. Was the salesperson with you each time for the test drives? Was he/she a little on the "+" size? If you're concerned about the extra weight of the GT (I know, that weight is in the front) a 230 lb sales person riding with you in the Ecoboost will bring you right back up to GT weight- maybe even more. If this is the case, I'd ask the sales person if you could go it alone, and be specific why if they give you any grief. If you let them know you're serious, they should a oblige.

Did you have traction control turned off? If not, it really saps the life out of the engine.
That's nutty. Traction control won't make the engine feel sluggish the way he'd be driving on a test drive.

I test drove the 2015 WRX back in august and it was the most disappointing car I've ever driven until I made a u-turn, the AWD was neat at that point and that's it. It had zero power and the guy even let me take it to some empty road to see what its got.

The EB was and is much better in every way, even gas. Tune it and put it in sport mode and it feels like a whole different car.

add 4 more cylinders to it
Now that is funny, they buy a 4 banger and expect it to be fast,or try and hop it up, and think it feels or sounds like a V8 GT.

Traction Control only activates when wheel spin is detected. In Snow Mode the power is also limited however but in Normal some slip is still allowed as my tires can light up on acceleration. Sport+ and Track is even more forgiving but the IVD will still not allow drifting like I do in the snowy parking lots in the Fall.

So, yes, you are correct!
