Just picked up a 2016 3.7L M6. I have always liked the Roush Axle-Back sound on the 2011-2014 v6. I have noticed, from videos, that it doesn't sound quite the same on the 2015/2016 v6. It doesn't sound as refined to me. It doesn't have the "GT-R tone" for lack of a better description. Is it just my imagination?

How much quieter, if any, would this setup be on a 2015+, and how is the drone around 2000rpm, and rasp at high rpm in comparison? I haven't heard it in person, but, in early 3.7 form, I'm not sure if I could stand the grating drone it is said to have as a daily driver.

I dont own a pair of roush but have the outlaws on my car, but i can tell you that there isnt really any drone, but it does get a lil raspy on the high end, but if you dont want that you can change out the stock resonator with an hpipe or xpipe. The stock resonator is the only reason why the s550 with roush sounds different than the s197.

The resonator will be why the 2015+ V6 sounds different, in most cases the volume will be more subdued compared to an X pipe etc.

Sounds badass! You were haulin man...what was that pass, about 110-115 or so? Sure looked like it!

So maybe i missed it, is that just a x pipe resonator delete?

Pass was at about 135 lol, but yes its just an x-pipe resonator delete with roush axle back exhaust. Im installing shorty headers this weekend!

the shorty headers really change the tone. actually I liked the sound around 3-4k that it made pre headers. I do like the headers though, sounds deeper down low. I didn't feel a huge gain in power, but there was some mid range pickup for sure. makesure you get a updated tune from torrie.

im putting lethal catless midpipes on this weekend....its gunna be loud :p :p

So that's all it is? The tone is night and day. Every video I've watched from Magnaflow to Bassani sounds better on the 2011-14's. The clean "tuner" aspect of the sound disappears on the S550. So if I just want to do the roush + "suitcase delete", and replace only the section where the resonator is.... is that something that the average exhaust shop can make with off-the-shelf pipe? Or, is it better to buy a prefab pipe? Is an X, or an H closer to what's on the early 3.7's?

BTW, I like what I've heard of the Outlaw sound while new. A bit muffled sounding, IMO, though. I only worry, as I believe they are "packed" mufflers. Back in the day, on my 94 Z28, I had a Magnaflow crossflow eventually blow the packing. Sounded terrible after that. Actually annoying to listen to. I wonder if the outlaws will slowly sound worse as the packing deteriorates.

I also noticed these, but apparently they're new. Not much of a following yet, but the muffler design appears to be identical to the roush, for $80 less. Even their description matches how people describe the Roush.... No/Low drone, Mellow during normal driving, wake the dead when u get into it.
