Any ideas how long it will be until a sub woofer (either stock or aftermarket) is offered for the trunk spot?

It already is offered, in the 401(a) package.

I am starting to notice that I'm in the minority -- no nav for me, which I have in the Explorer and, frankly, I think sucks. Plus, if I'm in the Mustang, what's so bad about getting lost? Seriously though. Why the love for the $795 extra nav package? Did I make a mistake?

To me, if you've got a big giant screen in the middle of your dash, your car might as well be able to tell you how to get to where you're going.

$795 is a tiny price for navigation as such things go. It's worth it for me to avoid the hassle of having to drive with one hand and hold my phone with the other while trying to see the navigation screen on it.

Plus, it'll probably make it really hard to resell in a few years when nav is just as much an expected feature as, say, stability control is now.

400a was all I could muster. This car already has so many buttons and switches that it will take me a year to learn it all.

I mean just the sub woofer. I got 400a cause I didn't wanna pay $1800 for just the upgraded audio, which is all I still want.
