The plan all along has been 137 '15's, roughly 5,000 '16's, and roughly 5,000 '17's. There's still plenty of time to get 5,000 '16's built before the changeover to MY17.

The last R models produced were on November 23rd so you are bang on.

I suggest that it will not be until the first week of March before Ford will start up production on the 2016 R models. If that is the case that is a period of ~ 3 1/2 months of no production for the R cars.

I have had a VIN on my R since August and I just made a change to my car within the last two weeks and Ford upped the MSRP by $500 from the MSRP of last July.

That's not going to fly too well when I pick it up this spring.

Not news. It was known months ago from Ford internal docs that NO R's would be built during the winter.

Now I hate ADM and have never paid it but folks "waiting" for the market crash are gonna be in a world of hurt when they realize it is 2 yrs (ok 3 with the 137 15's) and done.

Ford learned their lesson after the 01 Bullitt, 03/04 Mach 1, and 08/09 Bullitt number issues and public relations. They finally learned and are keeping their mouths shut as to estimated numbers, years of production to allow production flexibility.

Do you guys know the history of buyer gift packs. Only 4 times before: 1999 for the 35th anniversary, 2012 and 2013 Boss, 2015 50th Limited Edition, and now the GT350. Those things are a pain to Ford with missed shipments, dealers reporting incorrect data that screws up shipment, matching the kit to the specific car buyer etc.

Ford ain't doing that if the GT350 is getting a long run like the GT500. The day word was confirmed (word in the form of a UPS delivery) that the 2016 buyers were getting the owner supplement gift packs the intended end life of this program became known. And no they are not gonna send the packs to 2016 buyers and then shaft 2017 buyers---way too much outcry.

With all due respect there are a few of us that know the history of the "buyers gift packs" if that is what you want to call them. Having owned many of these cars over the last number of years I have never heard that term before but understand your intent.

I am not sure where you are getting all of your information with respect to the owners kits being a pain for Ford and that the GT350 program is a 2 year run not including the 2015 50th Anniversary GT350's?

Are you suggesting that Ford will limit the GT350 program to the 2017MY based on providing owners kits being a pain for them? Really?

The "Buyers Gift Packs" normally known as "Owners Kits" are in fact what separates Ford from their competition when it comes to limited edition or high performance vehicles and if Ford did not enjoy providing them to us enthusiasts let alone the added expense that they incur why would they go forward with this initiative?

These owners kits are not cheap to produce and to suggest that Ford would spend needless money on an initiative that is a pain in the butt for them does not make any sense whatsoever.

I happened to be in Sebring in October when numerous Ford officials spoke with me about an upcoming owners kits for the GT350's and I call tell you that they were very enthusiastic about what they were sending out and certainly contrary to your comments.

The owners kits that accompany certain model year of vehicles are what separates Ford from their competition.

Just over a year ago I remember spending a couple of hours with the lead engineer who was responsible for the recent Z28 program and by the way is a professional driver and certified driving instructor. I asked him why him and his team never chassis numbered the ~600 Z28 cars for 2014 along with an owners kit he mentioned to me that him and his team got so caught up with the Z28 vehicle itself that they totally forgot to provide chassis numbers for each vehicle and that they should have provided an owners kit for these limited edition Z28's and their loyal Z28 enthusiasts. Chevrolet knew they screwed up and missed going the extra mile for their Z28 enthusiasts and owners.

Just another of many reasons that sets Ford apart from their competition.

The kits probably cost them less than $20 a piece.

It's a well put together kit and I'm excited to get mine but I'm not sure what people think is so expensive to produce in there in the scale of 1000s.

You can bet that between the cost of the kit itself plus all of the logistics, handling and the cost from UPS that the cost will well exceed $20 for each owner. I am privy to what the Boss Owners kits cost and I can tell you that cost was well beyond $20 per kit all in.

Cost aside these kits are pretty cool and another nice element of owning these great cars.

I don't know about $20, but I do agree that in a volume of 5,000 or so they probably don't cost Ford more than $200. I think it's a neat touch, but also felt the main thrust was to sell the named and numbered prints for $499 each plus shipping. I would think they might come out ahead sending out the kits based on the number of prints they sell using the kits as advertising.

All cynicism aside - I absolutely LOVE the little kit. I just got mine last night. It totally speaks to my inner car geek. :ford:

I like to disassemble things.
Was yours the same as what we saw in the photos of the '15 kit?
