The part I want to remove says "Shaker" on it in most cases. No, it's one solid piece of plastic. You have to dremel it out.
Excellent. That's exactly what I wanted to know.Ah, ok. Yes. This can be removed after you removed the ashtray thing in front of it. Or try with a small panel tool. Matter of fact, you have to remove this piece gonget to the screws behind that to remove the center piece.
I have the one's on the far right and left. Thanks for the tip on using those!yep, I use a little picking tool, got 3 set for like 7 dollars are lowes. looks like a tooth plaque picker but sturdier. pops right out.
This is what I own / use. Comes in handy for a few pieces in the car, door panels, the little plastic covers oner the screw in door panel under the opening handle, was impossible for me to pull out, so I bought this set for those, ever since them I use them for everything!

I use a blue set of plastic pry tools, ones flat, 2 are kinda wedged. They have saved my butt a ton. probably used every time I do something with removing trim in a car honestly.I have the one's on the far right and left. Thanks for the tip on using those!
I also ordered a full set of plastic pry tools. About time I had those.

Those are nicer than the ones I ordered. But mine were half the cost.I got mine from crutchfield like 5 years ago. they've treated me well.

So I am planning my audio upgrade and want to mount my DSP controller in the space between the USB port and the power port. Any idea if it's possible to remove the center panel section without removing the whole radio bezel? Can it be pulled from the bottom or can you reach around behind it and push it out? I want to end up with the image as shown above.
So the panel that fits in that spot can be removed easily by lifting the tray in front and getting a hook tool underneath the bottom edge. Pull it back toward you at the ends. You will need to make a clearance hole behind the trim panel for your wires.I know this is super old, but were you indeed able to simply pry this piece off? I am doing a concealed radar detector install and this is a prime location for the display.
Thanks!
Awesome thank you. I have a 3d printer so I am going to take a crack at designing a replacement cover so the display will fit flush. Wish me luck lolSo the panel that fits in that spot can be removed easily by lifting the tray in front and getting a hook tool underneath the bottom edge. Pull it back toward you at the ends. Here is my DSP controller mounted to the surface of that panel:
