Is there any issue with the gas struts interfering with the explosive safety feature on the bonnet?

No one has reported anything, but yet to hear of anyone who had the DBS go off.

The strut connects to near the hinge, so it raises from the same point, although at a different angle, the pivot mounts on both ends will manage those angles without an issues.

As to the force of the release mechanism, it will be stronger than any gas strut of this size can delay.

Are there any hood struts that meet legal requirements and will be accepted by insurance companies?

The only legal requirement would be it can hold the weight of the bonnet. Even if it did mess with the DBS , which isnt a legal requirement here yet, its part of the EU saftey rating.

I read on the CJ Pony site that

We do NOT recommend using this kit on models outside of the US due to the active hood safety feature.

Does anyone see this as an issue?

I'm pretty sure the active hood was a requirement of the EU and not a requirement here so I wouldn't worry
