An installer I spoke to was concerned the hood would be too long for a 3M Clear Bra (3M, Venture Shield). They wanted to take measurements - but will be a few days before I can get my car in. They said the max length of the material was 5 feet (for a full hood).

Has anyone had a full hood done and if so did they use Venture Shield and/or 3M (both are now owned by the same firm).
Also, does someone have a tape handy and can measure the hood at max length? (and width).
Not around my car for the day!

Cheers,

Cheers,
I should have had the entire hood done, I did the 18 inch job and I have a couple of small rock marks about a foot past that....:frusty:

I don't think the hood is 5 feet long, but I may be wrong.

Agreed. I've done partial jobs in prior cars and it was kinda pointless as you have a lot of chips over the months/years beyond where the hood ends. I also dislike the seam, which can easily trap dirt etc and as well as the differential fading effects (minor). I did the full hood and fenders (+ A pillars) on my BMW a few years ago and that was fantastic protection.

Measured the hood. I was surprised to see the hood was 56 inches long but 63 inches wide!!! It looks longer!!!:eyebulge:

I did the 24 inch up the hood, all the front, covered the lights, fog lights and side view mirrors. as for the seem, it is an oxford white, unless you bent over and really look for it, you can see its there. im happy with the coverage.

You can definitely do a full hood piece. I've done 8 or so full hood pieces. Your installer needs to bulk the hood. The film is about a inch short but with a little stretch, it fits like a glove. I've even done a porsche macan hood which is about 7 inches short. Just gotta stretch the film.

Same here on mine. Added A pillars and front part of roof.

Also added 1/2" strip all around the edges at the bottom and rear of the doors.
Trunk area (where someone may drag their suitcase across your bumper).

Then he added a 1" tall strip centered on, and at the lower edge of the black rear deck lid. This is where I put my fingers when closing my trunk.

I went with XPEL and the best installer in town.
