Do these hood heat extractors really work much? Doesn't seem like much heat comes out from them? Feel more heat coming out of the bottom of the car when I stop then from the hood extractors. Just curious.
Anyone put anything else on them, or any write up on how to make hole bigger for heat to escape?

They are mostly cosmatic.
To make them bigger you need to cut the sheet metal.

Hmm ok. I seen about the roush one's, but I'd rather leave it stock and cut the sheet metal underneath. Just that is pretty scary to cut that lol.

You gonna have to cut the sheet metal if you want that much venting. The factory sheet metal opening is no bigger than the opening on the vent.
True. The recess in the top of the hood is mostly closed off. The tip of them sit in an opening, but that's mostly it.

You'll also notice from the pic that the driver's side vent is used the moment you move to an open cold air box (you can see the filter). This one has been modified - most likely because of that purpose.

I have also seen that none of these say they fit the 18s. Just the roush one does.

Heat rises my friend. They do, indeed, do their job.

Are 18 hood vents even real? Like are there openings?
Yes, but they are very small. When I park mine in the garage after a drive, I feel more engine heat come out of the wheel wells than the hood vents. As Bubb Rub and Lil Sis would say “they just fo decoration”

It was scary to start cutting, but once I got that first one done(hour later, it was pretty simple and fast to get the second one done. If you have any open element intake I highly suggest some sort of filter cover. I have seen a drop in oil and coolant temp on track. Cylinder head temps can still get high, but it takes them longer to get up there and they drop a little faster.

You can also cut the factory hole larger and go with the Scott Drake or Roush vents if you want to be able to go back to stock for any reason.
