Dude exactly what I say, like I'm sure they work a little and I understand physics that heat rises, but I feel heat from underneath and from the wheel wells then the actual vents.

Yes, but they are very small. When I park mine in the garage after a drive, I feel more engine heat come out of the wheel wells than the hood vents. As Bubb Rub and Lil Sis would say “they just fo decoration”

I'm.stock intake right now, I don't drive the car much, but when I do, I drive it really hard, so that heat pours out.

It was scary to start cutting, but once I got that first one done(hour later, it was pretty simple and fast to get the second one done. If you have any open element intake I highly suggest some sort of filter cover. I have seen a drop in oil and coolant temp on track. Cylinder head temps can still get high, but it takes them longer to get up there and they drop a little faster.

Hey look awesome! How do they mount after you cut out the underside?

They are a two piece system. The vents themselves go on the outside and then an outer ring (shape on the vent) goes on the bottom side of the hood. They basically clamp onto the hood.

That looks really good, but I'd want to color match them to the hood rather than keeping them black. I'm assuming that's NOT an option when you buy them, but I'm wondering how much of a PITA that would be.

To be honest I love the grabber blue vents - they're just too small and if I upgrade to the PP2 option I'll need it bigger for the CAI.

I installed the Verus Engineering extractors. They required cutting and drilling. I chose to have them bondo'd smooth with the hood and the edge color matched.

These actually do require me to cover the opening during rain / washing.

Hood extractors were added to the S197 in 2013 after the 11's and 12's were experiencing engine issues with the #8 cylinder. They were added to remove heat from under the hood. They are definitely functional.

Those seem less functional than the stock heat extractors.

The beauty of the stock vents is the abrupt profile change which creates a low pressure zone behind it while in motion. The low pressure zone actually draws heat out faster than just blowing air into the grill.

These might have a bit of a Venturi effect as the air flows over them, but with that wide of opening you could also put positive pressure back into the hood. It'd be interesting to see in a wind tunnel.

PP2 does not need a larger vent. Those are not for intake.

These are Scott Drake from cjpony. May not be very functional but I really like the RTR look. :) They are bolt on, no cutting.
