I’ve always understood wet let’s you reposition things better without the issues of stretching things accidentally, and in getting it positioned properly since it’s more forgiving. If I’m wrapping a hood and using knifeless tape, I use dry application film with air release. If I have a pre-cut decal that I’m trying to place (pre-cut hood blackout on my FJ for example) I’ve used wet. I think most clear protection films are wet application too.
