This surveillance system company is who my company deals with and from experience with other surveillance systems on the market, GenIV is by the farthest the best in capabilities, video clarity, app usage, installation, and affordability. Yes there are cheaper systems at Costco and Best Buy but those can not do or match a GenIV system. GenIV is custom tailored to what you want, it's not just a all in abox system. We have a GenIV system on our store with indoor and outdoor cameras, we have done systems inside and outside clients homes and businesses, and we have sold it over the counter as well. You do not need to be a certified technician to install and setup a GenIV system. And GenIV sells direct so you can buy a system online, install it yourself, and if you need any assistance you can contact GevIV technical support. If you want an awesome system without spending a lot of money, I highly recommend GenIV.

These assholes are pretty brazen even if they see a camera out.

Reason being they know many security cameras get pixelated as hell at night and they will take precautions. Basically a hoodie and a bunch of generic clothing and it is hard to tell them apart from any other unibomber sketch artist drawing.

A neighbor just posted a shot from his cameras that are in front of his house where somebody broke into his truck. Very hard to tell much about the person other than it was a white male.

A good POE camera with very good night imaging may help but you will need the object it is viewing to be CLOSE. Anything more than 12-20 feet away and the issues are going to start to pop up again.

Thinking you will get plates of vehicles at night is unlikely due to lighting, also front plates will get obscured by a wall of light due to headlights.

I am currently shopping for a 4 to 5 camera setup. It will be a POE and likely a NVR setup for remote logging in over the internet. Good solid 1080p recording and having 2 cameras motion activated to contact/email my phone when they detect motion is my plan.

I am satisfied with my setup so far, the cameras are crystal clear during the day, and as long as my lights are activated at night, I get pretty clear pics.
They're sensitive enough that my cat walking across the driveway at night sets them off.
But I'm on the hunt for something more robust, just haven't found the right setup yet.

I've been considering a camera too. The other month someone had pried up the weatherstripping on my stepfather's '15 Dodge Challenger, and my weatherstripping on my '06 GT drivers window was kind of mysteriously loose the same day. I'm not tolerating that shit on my car now. Heads will roll, and we think we even have a suspicion of who was behind it but without proof it's hard to justify going after them.

Only security system you need is an AR-15 and ammo.
:headbang::hail::paddle:

This is also my home security system lol. Mossberg Tactical MMR. My sister-in-law was given an AR by her father last year and we all went out to shoot it and I fell in love with it and had to get one of my own lol.

I've decided after seeing this the other month, that this needs to be my gun for home invaders sometime in the future. Because fuck them, and also probably fuck my drywall LOL.

Just an update for you all, since I installed the cameras we've had another incident at the house, but this time we caught it on camera.
Dude tried breaking into the house via the front door, thankfully I had locked it before I went bed. Wife was still up and cats were still out, so typically it would have been unlocked.
After trying unsuccessfully via the front door a few times, dude made himself at home in one of our chairs on the front porch/patio. Also on camera.
After 30 minutes, he moved on to the cars where he tried all four doors on both of the cars (locked, naturally) before trying the front door again.
All told, he was poking around for 45 minutes or so, never moved to the back yard though (that I know of) before wandering off. No doubt he was up to no good.
If you're interested, I'll post a couple of the videos so you can see how they look.

A better proximity light is just as important. But yeah a Ar-15 works too.

I'm on a list for a Doberman pup around October, that will help for sure.

A good option is a very bright outdoor motion light. If I was wandering around someone's house I'd leave very quickly if it lit me up light the sun when I approached.

That would creep the sh out of me....

I purchased the YI Home Camera http://www.amazon.com/YI-Home-Camer...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

It was $50... setup was easy. It sends me a notification when it detects motion.... it is great. Love this thing. You can setup regions and other items to keep false alarms down (I have maybe one or two a week).

The notifications are instant... enough time to unlock the door when the guy gets in the picture. ;) ... just kidding.
