Highway fuel economy

Im not sure,but any car that doesnt get a combined epa rating of 22.5 or higher is subject to the tax. According to the info on it, the GT350 guzzler tax should actually be much higher. Im getting 15.5 mixed driving according to the trip computer. I have not done an actual calculation yet so I suspect its actually worse than that (every single car Ive owned has always been worse)

This has to be highway only, otherwise the GT would also have a GGT. To be completely honest, I think the GGT is complete BS in the first place, they are already going to get more tax money from the fuel. It is pure extortion.

I drove mine from Southern California to Utah for the Track Attack. I averaged 24 mpg according to the onboard computer. Speed limit is 80 all through Utah. 75 in Nevada and Arizona.

Drive mine from Fl to Pa a few weeks ago for the Carlisle show.

At 80, I got 24.3 mpg, got into interstate traffic driving, slowed down to 65-70 and was getting 25.4

Yeah from that document its listed at 21.1mpg so must be the highway only

As for the tax, welcome to America. Just be happy you dont live in a state like CA

The fuel economy reported on the window sticker is modified from the one the EPA uses to assess the GG tax. In the "olden days" the fuel economy cycle was slightly different (for example they did not have A/C running) and reported higher numbers. Eventually people complained so much that the testing was changed to be more realistic, which is what we see on the window sticker today. However the "real" number, used for GG tax, is "uncorrected" and therefore quite a bit higher.

I get ~ 20 indicated on my commute, but it's more like 18.5 when calculated at the pump. I drive over mountains so I think the car has a hard time determining fuel usage when I go downhill, making the indicated mileage quite a bit better than actual.

Averaged 23+ mpg on a recent trip from PA to MA and back. Was doing 70-80mph when not stopped in traffic.

I am finding the trip computer on my GT350 is around .8 high. In other words registering 25 mpg is really around 24.2 mpg. My 2011 GT 5.0 was the complete opposite.

Agreed, except in my case the discrepancy is about 1.2 MPG too high. My overall average since day one (haven't reset Trip1 yet) is reported at 18.6, yet my fuel logs for the same period show an average of 17.4. I use an app called Gas Cubby and record every fill-up. Nearly 3500 miles of driving so far. I used the same app for over 40k miles in my F250 6.7L diesel, and it was within one or two tenths of the truck's trip computer.

I've used the same app for the last several cars I've owned. So far my 09 GT-R average is worse than the GT350! I had a stock GT-R, apart from an upgraded mid-pipe exhaust.
