Ill begin with the fact that I have a custom tune and have already consulted my trusted tuner with regards to the issue. I have a 2016 Base Gt PP with the NOVI 2200 non SL Beefcake Special. 3.6 Pulley, BAP, ID 1000's, Max Flow Race BOV and JLT intake. The car jumps upwards of 3000 rpms on cold start and holds for about 20 sec before it drops to idle around 750 rpms. I've done an idle relearn the old fashion way, disconnecting the neg cable and letting it sit. Cold start until it reaches normal operating temp, idle for 1 minute, turn a/c on for 1 minute and drive for about 20 miles. It didn't seem to have any affect on the really high rpm cold start. My respected tuner says its not in his tune and I believe him, considering that his 2016 was a mirror image build of mine and he tuned them both. He unfortunately lost his due to a drunk driver. I've read through multiple forums searching for similar issues and only see erratic idle issues after the start. The car idles fine. Just jumps really high on initial startup. I have the race BOV and that thing is ridiculously loud at 3000 rpm in neutral. Would a KAM reset or Crank Relearn via my SCT X4 have any effect on the high idle at startup?

Try doing a kam reset, when doing your new idle relearn it takes more then a minute or two of idle for it to relearn.Start it cold and let it idle until it gets up to operating temps then turn on the ac and let idle for another few minutes.May have to drive it a little also,if that does not bring the idle down i would say its in the tune.

Ok. It’s been awhile but I’m still having the issue. I’ve replaced the TB and IM with OEM parts. No change. I’ve replaced the BOV boost line, checked for vacuum leaks, reloaded tune, and did an idle relearn. Cold starts hang between 1500-2000 for the most part. If the car sits for an hour and then starts it goes back to 3,000 and falls to normal idle. I’ve checked a few of the plugs. They’re good and gapped at .030. Beginning to loose my mind. I have a set of Flowmaster Outlaws waiting to be installed but I don’t want deal with that noise revving to 3,000 at 6:30am before I go to work. Gonna have it dyno Tuner again in a week or so. Hopefully that will fix it.

Hi. DId you ever fix the problem with the high rpm on cold start? My 2015 mustang ecoboost is doing the same thing, and I have done a lot like yourself to fix it to no avail. Please let me know.
