Looking for thoughts and opinions on wheel/tire setup for high HP car.
I was dead set on a 19X10 285/35 square setup. I do have plans for mild FI on the car (600 hp) and was wondering if it would be safer to put wider rubber on the rear to handle torque.

It really depends on your priorities. If you want neutral handling while cornering at the limit, square is the way to go.

If you dont care about that and mainly want to put power down in a straight line, or you like the look, or you dont mind a little understeer and want to bias for rear traction, then sure go staggered.

FWIW, I'd be more concerned about tire type than raw size. A grippier tire thats a little narrower will stick better than a cheap wide tire.

Thanks for the response - I am actually going to do both. My concern with the road and FI is coming out of corners and experience traction issues getting into throttle with a high a torque motor.

Planned tire is MPSS

You'll have to control your right foot with a supercharger, no matter the tire, so get used to that idea.

Also, as stated above, if you're max tire is a 300tw MPSS, a better tire of slightly narrower size would provide better results.

I'd get the widest and stickiest square setup you can afford. Maybe bump up your wheel width too to allow for wider square setup?

Welp, if I pull the trigger on the procharger this evening, back to the drawing board on wheel and tire.

Appreciate the comments. Here is where I will restart
Stay with square - see how wide of a wheel (that I like) and tire I can get on the front without poke. (Daily Driver)
Stickier summer tires, thankfully I will be able to rotate

Installed are a set of FlowForm FF15 wheels powdercoated in Fog. 18x10.5 square with 305/35/18 Toyo R888's which turn this car into a real track monster. Wheels weighing in at 21.4lbs we're looking at a very significant drop in un-sprung weight compared to the factory wheels which weigh 32.6lbs front and 33.3lbs rear - for just the wheel alone that's 11lbs less for the fronts and a 12lbs less for the rears!

Personally for me I think if you can go all out, this would be the set to get for the track. Running maximum square tire sizes that are able to be rotated when needed is a huge benefit, plus all the weight savings will certainly help out along with the massive rubber.

I'd drop that supercharger, its going to cause more harm than good if you plan on tracking the car!!! and get a good set of wheels and 200TW tires like the Potenza RE-71R :) and go from there.
