We got a lot of bad drivers in this forum
I want to think it's a combination of inexperience, lack of specific instruction, and some belief that "the car is the car" and behaves the same way all the time - this last perhaps fostered by the presence of various nannies.

IIRC, it was no better and possibly worse for a while over on Camaro5 with people with 1LE's and ZL1's trying to drive in cool weather the same way they did in the summer . . . while still on the Goodyear Supercar G:2 Extreme Summer Performance tires. Actual wrecks were reported . . .

You have a point there. There are all kinds of videos of sport cars/super cars
Wrecking

I felt I needed to comment as I have driven spiritedly (almost hooning) with and without traction/stability control on and never lost control of the car. My car is stock non PP with 235/50R18 pirelli tires

half the country is cold half the year, but people pay more for the PP to get better "Performance" and then have to drive extra careful for half the year because their tires get slicker when its cold

It's only cold here sporadically for 2-3 months. I paid no difference on the PP. Why "performance" when there is clear differences? Just shitting on people that have it cause you don't?

I meant north of TN.

How did you get PP for free? That's $2400 option.

I don't have anything against the PP, other than the summer tires. Brembo's and the other parts are really cool, and I would like them, but it seems a little odd that people are advising to "be careful" with such cars in the cold. What's the point of PP? I can drive my car at 35F with more confidence than someone with PP.

Carmax didn't list it correctly lol. Bought it with 400 miles on her for 32k. Anyway, Brembos are awesome and I can drive my car with no issues at that temperature as long as I don't do anything retarded but that goes for most vehicles in the cold.

With A/S I can do retarded stuff in the cold. Not that I would ever do that

I am surprised Carmax didn't doc the PP option correctly. Not bad !

I am envious of the Brembo's. I may aftermarket those if I get around to upgrading the wheels at my next tire change.

We got a lot of bad drivers in this forum
Having been on a few other car brand forums in the past, that statement can be corrected to "We got a lot of bad drivers everywhere!"

Some of the largest issues I've seen are young kids with mommy and daddy's money, or lucking into money, buying cars that are way out of their league off the bat.

Drivers education in this country is a joke, as well as educating people in general about their cars and their limits. :frusty:

That's largely because people are retarded and need to overcompensate, and simply want to get the best top of the line thing, without actually knowing anything about it.

The PP is meant for track use, not for daily driving. That's why it comes with summer tires and everything else, since they don't expect anyone to be stupid enough to use a track setup car on regular streets, especially in the winter. Complete overkill and a waste of money for a daily driver, but if you bought it to use as a track toy, that's what it's for.

But shhh, don't tell that to half the people on here lol

That's quite harsh there bud. I enjoy it as my DD and do plan on tracking as well. I don't think people are retarded because they bought what they wanted even if they did "overcompensate". Didn't you "overcompensate" by getting a car with 435hp in the first place? LOL

PP is meant for daily driving in fair weather and occasional track days. Anyone driving it thru the colder months only needs to upgrade to a good winter tire/wheel combo.

To say that a Mustang with the PP option is only a car meant for the the track in very inaccurate, imo.

Even the GT350 and 350R are meant for daily fair weather driving with the intention of being able to track the car (albeit more aggressively than the regular GT with PP) when the desire hits you.

All Mustangs in stock guise are meant for daily driving. If you're going to enjoy track days with whatever club you belong to, you only have to pick your flavour GT (mild), GT with PP (medium), GT350 (hot), and GT350R (extra hot).

And if you're driving any of the above in temps that are consistently at or below 45F for a few or more months of the year in your region, you should definitely have a winter tire/wheel combo.

Never said I didn't overcompensate ;)

And like I said, if you have a PP and take it to the track occasionally, you absolutely bought the right car. Didn't mean to imply I think it's a track only car.
The ones that annoy me are the people who do stupid things then bitch about Ford selling the PP with summer tires, since they clearly don't understand what they bought, and just bought what they thought would be "cool". There's just been so many threads lately with the cold weather setting in, it's hilarious.

I think a more accurate statement would be: The advantages of PP can only be exploited legally on a race track. If .96g is exploited on the road, you're probably breaking the speed limit, and in some cases, tremendously.

Back when I had my Cobalt SS, it could probably only pull .85g on the all season tires I had on it, but the fun curvy stretch of road we have out here has a speed limit of 50km/h, and I couldn't get the tires to squeal around the corners doing double that...just saying.
