The search function here leaves a bit to be desired. I understand that E85 has an octane rating of 110+ and is less likely to detonate therefore added timing allows for more power. I also know that Whipple does not tune for E85. My questions are as follows:
1. Why would they not tune for E85 if they could make bigger numbers, is there a downside I haven't seen yet?
2. I have the stage 2 whipple kit about to be installed. It comes with DW 72lb injectors which are in fact E85 capable. The Tank and pump can handle E85 but why does everyone say you need the full fuel system to run E85?
3. Anyone run the MAK bigger in tank pump with everything else stock with E85? They say 750 to 800 rwhp and have done so for a while with their pro charged car. Why isnt it done more often? Why will Lund not tune this set up?

The deal is I just got my car, bought SW headers and full redline catback, a whipple stage 2, new wheels and tires so I can run 11s on the rear, some appearance mods and now lol 12k later it will be hard to talk the lady into 2k for a fuel system.
Thanks in advance for the help.

1. Because Whipple makes blowers, they are not in the business of tuning. There are tuning companies for that

2. The 72s might be e85 compatible, but they do not flow enough to supply you with enough fuel to run e85, They will easily be maxed out if you tried to run e85 though them. The pumps will also not be able to maintain pressure when you swap to e85, the amount of fuel flow required will exceed their ability to provide it, this will mean you will lose fuel pressure, which means your injectors will now spray even less, which is bad, bc you didn't have enough fuel injector flow to begin with

3. Ask Lund

Lastly, there are fuel system you can buy that are much cheaper than 2k that will work with your Whipple, Jn2ning, Sai Li, Hellhorse, Lethal, most of the cheaper kits are limited to about 12psi, but should supply enough fuel to run e85 with 1000cc+ injectors.

Thanks Kona. I may just run 93 octane for a while with what I have. Then when I'm ready to upgrade more like fuel system and boost, probably short block at that time, I can just do another big build.

Lund won't tune forced induction on E85 without a fuel system as a single bigger pump/ boost a pump is running on the ragged edge of running out of fuel. Agreed with above that you need bigger injectors to go E85. I believe Whipple is working on E85, but not released yet.

Honestly I think the biggest reason is that E85 is not available everywhere. Kind of limited actually with states that have it. Im pretty sure Procharger does not have a E85 tune either.

Those injectors can run E85 on a N/A setup but you'll max them out at on your whipple kit..

Limitless Performance and Fabrication sells a twin pump return style fuel system for around ~$900-1000.
Can't remember the exact price but it has been pushed up to 1000whp.
Check their website for more info. They can also offer bigger injectors at a great price and get you setup with a tune for E85 if that's the route you want to go.

Let me know if there's anything I can help you with as they are local to me.
